the supreme Jewish authority -in
the rebuilding and development
of the Jewish National Home,
Mr. Kaplan said that the surviv-
ing remnants of the Jewish pop-
ulation in Greece, 2ulgaria, Ro-
mania and. Hungary are in a des-
perate 'state of homelessness and
are pleading _for the opportunity
to emigrate to Palestine "as the
one Means of . achieving security
and freedom. -in • the post-war
world."
Accepts Orders for Dunams, Golden Book
Funds secured through the Golden Book in scriptions in
President Roosevelt's memory may be ordered not only by

individuals but alSo by organizations, at $100 an insertion.
In order to facilitate this means of paying tribute to •Mr.
Roosevelt, 'Mr. Hordes . stated,. Detroiters may also redeem
dunams of land in Palestine at $25 a dunam and the total
received to honor the late President will be used for Golden
Book inscriptions.
The attached coupon may be used - by individuals and
organizations for the purpose of ordering Golden Book in-
scriptions or for dunam land redemptiOn.
Roosevelt Endorsed -Zionist Efforts
NEW YORK—The Labor Zion-
ist movement in the U. S. has
been asked to provide the land
for the establishment in Pales-
tine of a colony which is to bear
the name of Berl Katznelsofi,
the late Palestine .labor leader
and editor. A sum of $250,000
is to -be raised for the Jewish
National 'Fund for the acquisi-
tien of the land tract for the new
colony.
- Details were announced in a
call issued by Louis Segal, chair-
man, - and - H: Eh-renreidh, secre-
tary of the JNF's Department on
Contact with Labor Organiza-
tions.

For the past 20 years, Mr. Roosevelt, in his many official
capacities, as Governor of New York and as President, had
endorsed Jewish activities in Palestine and supported Zion-
ist endeavors.
Many organizations and individuals, among Ahem many
Christians, labor_ and fraternal groups, honored iPresident
Roosevelt on many occasions by inscribing his' name in the
JNF Golden Book.
Mr.• Hordes pOinsted . out that all our: Presidents, begin-
ning with Thebdore Roosevelt, had spoken favorably of- the
Zionist cause.
_ The Balfour Declaration was - issued with the approval
and encouragement of President. Wilson. PresidentsTaft,
Harding, Coolidge and . Hoover had similarly endorsed the
Zionist cause.
