Mr. and Mrs. Philip Kramer of 2724 Cortland will have open
house Sunday, 4 to 9 p. m., in honor of their son, Melvin, who is
awaiting a call to active service in the Navy.

Colonel and Mrs. Harold Schlessinger have come from Mem-
phis, Tenn., where the colonel is stationed, to visit with members
of their family.

Cpl. and Mrs. Richard M. Kopel are spending a week with their
parents, Dr. and Mrs. Joseph Kopel of Chicago Blvd. Cpl. Kopel
is on furlough from his post at Truax Field, Madison, Wis.
Pvt. Jean Holtzman, WAC, who is stationed at Des Moines, Ia.,
is spending part of her two weeks' furlough as the house guest of
her brother and sister-in-law, Mr. and Mrs. Joseph Holtzman of.
Oak Dr., before going on to New York City and Washington.
Lt. (s. g.) Ralph Helper, USNR, is spending the week-end with
his- parents,- Mr. and Mrs. Samuel Helper of Atkinson Ave. He is
on leave from his post at the Great Lakes Naval Training Center.
Mr. and Mrs. Edward Krause of Calvert Ave. have returned
from New York City where they spent a week visiting with their
son, Pfc. Jerry Krause.
Capt. L. Hudson Rosenthal, who has recently returned from
three .years service in Hawaii, is spending a 45-day furlough with
his family in their home in Blaine Ave.
Capt. and Mrs. Louis Shiovitz and their sons, Billy and Kennie,
returned last Sunday to' Washington where Capt. Shiovitz is sta-
tioned:. following a 10-day visit with Mrs. Shiovitz' parents, Mr.
and Mrs. Samuel Reichstein of Atkinson Ave.
Mr. and Mrs. Ben Thorsch of Burlingame Ave. left on Tuesday
for Los Angeles, Calif., where they plan to make their home.
A/S Donald Thal is spending a week's leave with his parents,
Mr. and Mrs. Ellis . Thal of Glynn Ct., before returning to his post
at the Great Lakes Naval Training Center.
Mrs. Arthur Magar of Buena Vista Ave. has left for Lawton,
Okla., where she will join her husband, Pvt. Magar, who is sta-
tioned at Fort Sills.
S/lc Daniel Niss, who is stationed at Squantum, Mass., is
spending a 10-day leave with his parents, Mr. and Mrs. Isadore
Niss of Clairmont Ave.
Pfc. - Mat Cutler has returned to his post at Vaughn General
Hospital, Hines, Ill., after spending a two weeks' furlough with
Ls mother, Mrs. Morris Cutler of Chicago Blvd.
Mr. and Mrs. Norman Buckner of Pontiac are visiting their
son, Pfc. Herbert R. Buckner, in Quantico, Va.
Before her recent marriage, Mrs. Akivah Drasin (Henrietta-
Almug) was honored at a series of parties. On Feb. 6, Mrs. Sig-
mund Ross of Hazelwood Ave., gave a kitchen shower at her home;
on Feb. 12, Mrs. Alan N. Brown was hostess at a miscellaneous
shower at the Wilshire, and on Feb. .22, Miss Lois Linden gave a
personal shower at her home on Oakman Blvd. Dr. and Mrs.
Adolph Ehrlich of Calvert Ave. entertained at a dinner party.
Cpl. Samuel I. LaFond is visiting his parents at their new home,
18310 Cherrylawn, on a 15-day furlough.

Marriages
DRASNIN-ALMUG: On Sun-
day, March 4, the marriage of
Miss Henrietta Almug, daughter
of Mrs. Samuel Almug and the
late Mr. Almug, to Akivah Dras-
nin, son of Samuel Drasnin and
the late Mrs. Drasnin, wa s
solemnized at a candlelight cere-
mony before members of the
immediate families at the Wil-
shire. Rabbi A. M. Hershman
and Cantor Sonenklar officiated.
The bride, who was given in
marriage by her uncle, Joseph
Rosson, wore a champagne satin
dress, matching hat and veil, and
carried a cascade of white roses.
Members of the wedding party
were: Mrs. Alan N. Brown, ma-
tron of honor; Miss Esther Yen-
off, maid of honor; Miss Lois
Linden and Mrs. Percy Kaplan,
sister of the bridegroom, brides-
maids, Miss Betsy Ann Brown,

wedding music.
