Lt. Rosenblum, Missing on Mission,
Safe; 2 Brothers with Third Army

Reported missing on Jan. 15
while on a mission over Austria,
Lt. Albert Rosenblum, 22, a Lib-
erator pilot, is back in action
with his unit in Italy. His par-
ents, • Mr. and Mrs. David Rosen-
blum, 2522 Hazelwood, have
heard from him and have also
received a communication from
the War Department notifying
them of his safety.
Lt. Rosenblum, a graduate of
Northern high, attended Wayne
University as an aeronautical en-
gineering student until his induc-

tion in February, 1943. He has
been overseas since last October,
and has been stationed with the
15th Army Air Force in Italy.
Lt. Rosenblum has returned to
his unit after a rest on the Isle
of Capri.
Two brothers, Pfc. Lew and
S/Sgt. Harry, are with the Third
Army in Germany. Lew is with
the infantry and Harry with the
medical corps. Harry had been in
Alaska for two and one half
years before being reassigned to
Europe.

Ave., is home on a 28-day leave.
He is attached to the Armed
Guard Center of Brooklyn, N. Y.
A graduate of Northwestern
High School, he was employed
at the Motor Products Co. be-
fore enlisting in the Navy on
Jan. 6, 1943. He received his
boot training at the Great Lakes

The family of Mr. and Mrs. H.
Morrison of Chicago Blvd. is
serving its country nobly, their
son, Abe L., being a Seaman
First Class in the Naval _Reserve,
and their daughter, Jessie S., is
with the UNRRA in Cairo.

S. M. 3/c Brownstein has made
four overseas trips to various
countries including Italy, Egypt,
Palestine and France. During
the course of his travels he has
purchased many souvenirs such
as a Bible and candlestick hold-
ers made in Jerusalem, sterling
silver ash trays and letter open-
ers made in Italy and table-,
cloths and scarfs made in N.
Africa.
On March 22 he will return to
Brooklyn to be reassigned to
another shin.

141,500 IN HISTADRUTH
Tel Aviv (ZOA)—The mem-
bership of the Histadruth Haov-
dim, General Federation of
Jewish Labor in Palestine is
141,500, representing 25 per cent
of the Jewish community. A
gain of 11,500 new members was
reported. in 1944.

formed by her son, Pfc. Sidney
Greenberg.
Mr. Cruise writes: "I know it
will please you to know of his
recent action.- He came to my
office and handed me a lady's
handbag, containing a lot of val-
uable personal belongings, which
he had found on the train, and
asked that I endeavour to return
it to the owner. Actions such
as this make me fell very proud
of our men, and I know it will
bring pride to you, his mother,
to know that he is carrying out
those principles which you taught
him in his youth."
Pfc. Greenberg, 21, entered
service on April 16, 1942, shortly
after being graduated from Cen-
tral High. He went overseas on
April 18, 1943, and at present is
serving as a laboratory techni-
cian in a hospital in England.
Pfc. Greenberg received his
Jewish education at the Arbeiter
Ring Schule and was an active
member of the Jewish Center.

S. African War Appeal
Aids Polish Refugees

The South African Jewish
War Appeal has sent 40 tons of
food and clothing to Polish
refugees in Asiatic Russia as
part of the rescue and relief
program it is carrying on in
cooperation with the Joint Dis-
tribution Committee.
The shipment consists of 20
tons of winter overcoats, 10 tons
of powdered soup, eight tons
of beans and two tons of winter
shirts. The South African Jew-
ish War Appeal has also sent.
5,000 tins of jam, 5,000 pairs of
boots and 5,000 sheepskin gar-
ments to the Polish refugees in
recent months.
Shipment of these items to
Russia was arranged for the
South African Jewish War Ap-
peal by the Joint Distribution
Committee, which is also carry-
ing on an extensive package
program in behalf of refugees in
Asiatic Russia. JDC's latest ship-
ment consisted of 110 tons of
men's and women's winter over-
coats. JDC also sent two corn-

a federal civil service employe
in Chicago prior to: being ap-
pointed to go with the Balkan
mission of UNRRA, received her
training at the University of
Maryland before her departure
for Cairo. She is serving with
the displaced persons' division
for Balkan refugees. She recent-
ly returned to Cairo from a
week's trip to Palestine.
