United Hebrew School Pupils to Hold
Passover Programs Sunday, Monday

Children of the David W.
Simons School will present a
Passover program for their par-
ents and friends on Sunday
morning, at 11, in the auditorium
of the school, 4000 Tuxedo.
The program will feature a
contest dealing with Passover,
in which 25 children will parti-
- cipate. Jean Baschin will direct
the contest. Group singing will
-be directed by A. Schachter, a
member of the staff of the He-
brew schools. Several solos will
be given by Henry Weintraub,
of the advanced class of the
school.
The glee club, directed by
Mrs. Samuel Lehrman, will pre-
sent a playlet. Jean Rabotnick
and Diane Bissin will tell the
story of Passover in Hebrew and
Sidney Rubenstein in English.

will chant the Kiddush.

Weizmann Institute
Fund Drive Gains

NEW YORK—Progress in the
drive for $2,000,000 for the estab-
lishment in Palestine of a Weiz-
mann Institute of Science was
announced by the American com-
mittee sponsoring the program
which was inaugurated recently
as a 70th birthday tribute to Dr.
Chaim Weizmann.
Edmund I. Kaufmann, presi-
dent of the American Committee
for the Weizmann Institute of
Science, stated that in addition
to the $500,000 in gifts and
pledges, previously announced,
the committee has secured an ad-
ditional sum of 5100.000. Sir
Alexander Korda, motion picture
executive, and head of the Brit-
ish affiliate of Metro-Goldwyn-
Mayer, enroute from Hollywood
to London, informed the commit-.
tee of his decision to contribute
$20,000.

The Central States Region of
Hadassah, comprising 27 chap-
ters and nine Business and
Professional divisions in Michi-
gan, Ohio, Kentucky and West
Virginia, has salected Detroit for
its spring conference, April 14
to 16, at the Detroit-Leland
Hotel.
Each chapter and division will
have only one delegate, who will
be either the president or her
representative.
Mrs. Theodore Levin, chair-
man of the conference, has ap-
pointed Mrs. Samuel Rubiner to
head the registration and cre-
dentials committee. Mesdames
Harry B. Keidan and Maurice
Siden head the hospitality and
social committees for the re-
ception and luncheon of April
15 and 16. Mrs. Hyman J.
Schlafer is chairman of hospi-
tality.
