discussion of community problems at the annual meeting of
the Jewish Welfare Federation and several of its affiliated
agencies, Wednesday evening, March 21, at 8 o'clock, at the
Jewish Center.

On account of Passover, which will commence with the
first Seder on Wednesday evening, March 28, earlier deadlines
will be in force for the March 30 and April 6 issues of The Jew-
ish News.
The deadline for the March 30 issue will be at noon on
Monday, March 26.
The deadline for the issue of April 6 will be at noon on
Monday, April 2.
Copy received after the deadlines will, of necessity, have to
be omitted from current issues.
Contributors to the columns of The Jewish News are urged
to cooperate by adhering strictly to these deadlines.

Adult Lounge of the Jewish Cen-
ter.
Mr. Cane has been in Detroit
since 1939. Prior to coming here
he spent three months in Eng-
land, and returned to Detroit
just after the outbreak of the
war in September, 1939. He re-
cently has returned from a six
weeks' tour of the United King-
dom, where he visited plants,
training centers and the armed
forces.
The subject of his lecture will
be "Impressions of Britain After
Five Years of War." He will il-
lustrate it with motion pictures.
All are invited.

Affair April 8

1945 Histadrut Contributors,
Workers Attend Closing
Event at Cass High

With progress reported in or-
ganizational and individual gifts
to the 1945 Histadrut-Gewerk-
shaften campaign, leaders in the
drive announced this week that
the wind-up event will be held
at Cass High, Sunday evening,
April 8.
Nationally prominent speakers
will address the traditional clos-
ing event and there will be an
outstanding musical program.
Campaign headquarters made
it clear this week that no tickets
will be sold for the April 8
event and that admission cards
will be issued only to contribut-
ors, workers, and organizational
delegates.
The first set of admission
cards will be available for dis-
tribution next Thursday even-
ing, at the rally at Lachar's on
12th St., to representatives of or-
ganizations which have already
completed their quotas.

rent year, announced this week,
includes the following:

Goldberg is head of the institu-
tion committee and Nathan Yaf-

has arranged a program. New
members are welcome.

At a meeting of Migdal held
on March 11, a resolution cen-
suring the present Zionist lead-
ership of the Emergency Council
and its recent activities, was
composed and unanimously pass-
ed. The resolution evolved from
a discussion on the current Wise-
Silver issue led by Sidney Alpert
and was presented at a meeting
of the local Zionist Council.
Miss Raye Metzger and Miss
Selma Jacobson, newly elected.
co-chairmen of the group, intro-
duced a calendar of events. Miss
Elsie Lassman reported on the.
activities of the local committee
sponsoring the Jewish "Black
Book" which is to be published
soon.

League for Labor Palestine, will
be visited by the national ex-
ecutive, Miss Eleanore Levinson,
who is expected here, March 20.

Institute Founders' Dinner
To Honor Dr. Wise Sunday

In observance of Founders
Day of the Jewish Institute of
Religion, its alumni will sponsor
a dinner Sunday evening, at the
Waldorf-Astoria Hotel, New
York. Linked with the 71st birth-
day of Dr. Stephen S. Wise,
president and founder of the In-
stitute, this celebration will be
the occasion of the reunion. of
alumni and the gathering of rep-
resentatives of congregations
they serve.
