The entire fund for the estab-
lishment of the Fred M. Butzel
Forest in Palestine has been sec-
ured, according t o William
Hordes, JNF president.
This forest was established
seven and a half years ago_ in
honor of Mr. Butzel's 60th birth-
day.
Mr. Hordes stated this week
that in accordance with the
wishes of Mr. Butzel, the certifi-
cate to be issued by the Keren
Kayemeth Lelsrael (Jewish Na-
tional Fund) headquarters in
Palestine will be placed per-
manently in the Butzel Hall of
the Jewish Community Center.
The Fred M. Butzel Forest is
being planted near the Ain
Hashophet Colony in Palestine
which was established in honor
of the late Justice Louis D.
Brandeis.
A forest in Palestine, on land
of the Jewish National Fund, has
10,000 trees.

Mrs. Philip J. Cutler, president of the Ladies' Auxiliary
of the Jewish National Fund, this week predicted that all
previous records for fund-raising for _land redemption in
Palestine will be broken by her organization next Wednes-
day when the Auxiliary will conclude its annual drive with
a rally at the Masonic Auditorium, at 1:30 p. rn.

More than 2,000 women are
expected to attend this event,
which will be addressed by Dr.
Joshua Liebman of Boston, one
of the outstanding Reform rabbis
and one of the ablest speakers
in this country.

The increase of Jewish National
Fund receipts from 11 to 15 coun-
tries which participated in last
year's fund raising was pointed
out by JNF headquarters here,
as evidence of the growing aware-
ness among Jews of the para-
mount importance of Palestine
as a soltition to Jewry's postwar
problems.
The report dealt with receipts
for the first quarter of the cur-
rent Jewish calendar year, up to
Jan. 31, 1945, which totalled $2,-

The Ladies' Auxiliary's proj-
ect is being dedicated to the
establishment of a special settle-
ment in Palestine to be known
as the Nachlath Ladies' Auxil-
iary of the Jewish National Fund
of Detroit. Towards the $100,000
goal for this project, $35,000 was
raised last year.
Thus far,_ according to Mrs.
Cutler, Mrs. William Hordes
leads all divisions in results ob-
tained for this year's event.
Mrs. J. S. Sperka is chairman
of the program committee.

$16,000,000 During His
10-Year Service

NEW YORK. (JTA)—More
than 500 Zionist leaders and rep-
resentatives of Jewish groups
paid tribute to Mendel N. Fish-
er on the 10th anniversary of his
assuming the post of executive
director of the Jewish National
Fund, at a dinner in his honor
at Hotel Commodore, at which
it was pointed out that American
Jews contributed $16,000,000 to
the JNF during Mr. Fischer's
term of office.
Dr. Chaim Weizmann, president
of the World Zionist Organiza-
tion, was among thOse who sent
messages of greetings. Judge
Morris Rothenberg, president of
the Jewish National Fund of
America, presented Mr. Fischer
with an engraved resolution, on
behalf of the organization, com-
memorating the 10 years of de-
voted service. Israel Goldstein,
president of the Zionist Organiz-
ation of America, was the toast-
master. Speakers included rep-
resentatives of all groups in the
Zionist movement.
