Ban on Non-Essential Travel
Items Wins Commendations

The Jewish News' decision to omit from its columns all
reference to non-essential civilian travel, in deference to the
policies of the Office of Defense Transportation, has won the
commendations of our readers and of leaders in many Jewish
communities.
A number of readers, commenting on this decision, have ex-
pressed their view that those who fail to comply with OTD reg-
ulations are doing . a disservice to America and our people, and
that newspapers which encourage non-essential travel are sim-
ilarly doing their people a disservice.
In accordance with a decision of the American Association of
English-Jewish Newspapers, 20 periodicals throughout the land
are following the policy adopted by The Jewish News.
