stadt Concentration Camps Arrived in Switzerland on the
8th of February.

LETTER FROM:

CONGREGATION

GEMILATH CHASODIM of DETROIT

There is a possibility to save thousands of Jews who are now in Ger-
man Concentration Camps and bring them to Switzerland, where they

will be interned for the duration. This has been done by the Vaad Ha-
hatzalah Emergency Committee of New York, through its representa-

Congregation Gemilath Chasoclim, organ-
ized in Detroit by refugees, desires to ex-
press its gratitude and appreciation to you
for your most heroic and noble rescue work,

tives in Switzerland. This was made possible through the cooperation
of the War Refugee Board in. Washington and the Government of

Among the first transport of Jews saved
from the Theresienstadt Concentration
Camps, which arrived in Switzerland on the
8th of Feb., 1945, we find relatives of four df
the members of our Congregation. Needless
to say that we were thrilled to see the fol-
lowing names:
Mrs. Elizabeth Hess, Mother of Mr. Sieg-
fried Hess.
Mrs. Weinschenk, mother of Mrs. Jacob
Buhler.
Emil, Johana, & Joel Feiner, sister, broth-
er-in-law, and nephew of George Cohen.

The Government of Switzerland is prepared to admit all Jews
who can be released from the Concentration Camps and keep them in

Mr. Haas, son of Mr. Adolph Haas.

As soon as our congregation was informed
of the . work of the Vaad Hahatzalah and the
large sums necessary for this rescue under-
taking, a meeting was 'called at which $6,500
was raised immediately and we hope that
the sum of $10,000 will be raised.

We are convinced Detroit Jews will re-
spond, and actively participate in This His-
toric Endeavor that Providence has placed
upon the Vaad Hahatzalah.

May the Almighty send his salvation to
our people everywhere and may peace come
soon to the entire world.
