the day for simultaneous meet-
ings of its hundreds of chapters

sah grow from about a dozen
New York women to an organ-
ization of 100,000 members, de-
voted to the cause of spreading
health and hygiene in Palestine,
caring for thousands of war re-
fugee children, and assisting the
Jewish National Fund in 'its pro-
gram of land redemption and
forestation.
City Wide Meetings
In Detroit, Hadassah's 2,500
members • will hold city-wide
meetings on Tuesday, dedicated
to Miss Szold's memory and ful-
filling her wishes that the work

dramatic soprano, will appear as
guest of Dr.` Cyril Barker in the
sixth of a series of eight organ
concerts to be presented in the
Art Institute auditorium next
Tuesday, at 8:15 p. m.
Miss Kozenn, who has ap-
peared throughout the country
singing songs and arias in 14-
languages, will sing Schubert's
"The Almighty" and Strauss's
Monologue from "Salome" in
German; the premier presenta-
tion of "Psalm CXXI" by Hugo
Kauder and the famous aria
from "Rusalka" by Dvorak in
English; and two selections by
Rachmaninoff,, "The Soldier's
Bride" and "Floods of Spring",
in Russian.
Dr. Barker, organist from the
Detroit Institute of Musical Arts,
will present in his portion of the
program, two request numbers,
Debussy's well-known "Clair de
Lune" and the haunting melody,
"The Lost Chard".
These organ concerts are pre-
sented by Crowley, Milner - and
Co. in cooperation with the Arts
Commission of Detroit. There is
no admission charge.

Russel Woods Program
The Russell Woods Group,
Mrs. John Frazer, president, will
meet at 12:30 at the Rose Sittig
Cohen Bldg., Lawthn at Tyler.
Miss Hattie Gittleman will de-
liver a tribute to Henrietta Szold
and Mrs. Joseph G. Fenton will
review Edgar Snow's "People on
Our Side". 'Mrs: Arthur Weber
will discuss Palestine supplies.
University Group
An elaborate Palestinian pro-
gram has been planned by the
University Group, Mrs. David
Cooper, president, to be held at
1:30 at the Mayflower Church,
Curtis at Prairie. The program
for this meeting is listed else-
where.
Because of previous arrange-
ments, the Huntington Woods
group meeting will be held on
the evening of March 15, at the
Royal Oak Women's Club. Mrs.
Max Miller, president of this
group, announces that husbands
are invited. The program will
be on "Jewish Art in Palestine,"
as exemplified by exhibits and
the rendition of Palestinian
dances to -traditional music.
Mrs. Louis Glasier, president
of Detroit Chapter of Hadassah,
predicts that Detroit attendance
of these memorial meetings will
be outstanding._

The Festival Ensemble, with
Stanislaw Schapiro, violinist;
Mary Carrick, pianist; Jack R.
Boesen, violinist; Guyton Amato,
violinist; Jesse Forstot, cellaist;
the Wayne University Dance
Workshop; and the Robert Nolan
Choir, will present chamber
music, dance pantomime, and
choral songs. for the teen and
college • age groups.
Sponsors of the Detroit Youth
Festival and of the Youth Festi-
val Concert are: the Detroit
Public Library, Wayne Univer-
sity, the University of Michigan
Extension Service, and the Inter-
racial Committee. The planning
board includes H. Dorothy Tilly,
Dr. David D. Henry, Everett J.
Soup, Harold Thompson, Stanley
Cates.
The festival opened Feb. 17
with the Detroit Symphony
Young People's Concert.

'Eternal Light' Drama

The Louis LaMed Foundation
for the promotion of , Hebrew
and Yiddish Literature has is-
sued a call to authors in both
languages asking them to sub-
mit their , works to its newly
appointed literary jury.
The jury will pick four of
the best books — two Yiddish
and two in Hebrew—which have
appeared in 1944 and award
prizes of $400 to each author.
- Books which have appeared in
the United States must be sub-
mitted not later than: May 1,
1945. Books which haVe appear-
ed in other countries of the
American continent must be
submitted not later than July
15, 1945.
The new jury consists, of the
following Hebrew and Yiddish
authors: Dr. P. Churgin, A. Ep-
stein, H. LeiVick, I. J. Schwartz

Cyrus Adler, former president
of the Jewish Theological Semi-
nary of America, will be dramat-
ized on "The Eternal Light" Sun-
