Three New Groups
Winning Class in Tree-Planting Drive

Organization, is organizing three
new groups of boys and girls,
ages 10-14.

who should be contacted by any-
one wishing to join are:

NEW YORK—The breakup of
the United Jewish Appeal was
in no way related to the finan-
cial requirements of the National
Refugee Service, Charles A. Rie-
gelman, president of the NRS,
advised directors of that organ-
ization. As a result of the break-
up, NRS is compelled to con-
duct its own fund-raising cam-
paign, he said.
Riegelman points out that NRS
requirements always have been
treated as "a basic and prior
claim On the receipts of the
U.J.A.",
"The priority accorded the
NRS means that its needs were
entitled to first consideration,"
said Riegelman. "This was be-
cause the people NRS helps are
`here on our doorstep'. Also,
it was becaUse it does a 'mea-
surable' job—one that costs a
sum of money always well with-
in the resources available."
Enlisting the aid of Jewish
leaders throughout the U. S. in
the agency's forthcoming cam-
paign, he points out that "now
the NRS must seek its finances
directly from the communities—
from welfare funds and from
other combined local campaigns
throughout the country."
