JDC Rushes Food
To Budapest Jews

BUCHAREST, (JTA) — With
Budapest completely liberated,
the Joint Distribution ,Commit-
tee, utilizing the facilities of the
International Red Cross, this
week rushed froin here 110 tons
of food, clothing and medicine
for the Jewish survivors in the
Hungarian capital.
The supplies sent are Much
less than urgently needed by
the Jews who remained alive in
Budapest after the retreat of
the Germans, it was emphasized
here.
"A large-number of Jews in
the Budapest ghetto died of hun-
ger," the report says. "The sur-
viving Jews are all under-
nourished and without warm
clothing. It is imperative that
food, clothing and medicines
reach them urg.ently," the re-
port appeals.
At the same time an appeal
was issued here by Dr. William
Filderman, president of the
Union of Jewish Communities
in Romania, asking for immedi-
ate aid from abroad for the im-
poverished Romanian Jews.

Tzivya Lubetkin and Isaac Zuk-
erman, members of the Central
Committee of the Jewish Resist-
ance Organization, according to
the Jewish Soviet Press Agency.
(Tzivya Lubetkin, a Labor-
Zionist, was reported to have
died in the :ghetto uprising in,
which she played a majoi- role.

she had escaped from Warsaw,
