Mrs. Albert E. Goldberg and son, Robert, who have been . viSit-
ing in Hot Springs are returning home at the end of the week.
Henry Harris Carver, who . has just been promoted to staff
sergeant, was home on a short furlough which • he sperit with his
parents, Mr. and Mrs. Samuel Carver of Chicago Blvd. He has
just returned to his post at Orlando, Fla.
A bridal luncheon was given in honor of bride-elect Edna Caro-
line Sott, at the Statler hotel, Feb. 10. The hostesses -were 'Mrs. Sam
Moore, an aunt of the •bride, Mrs. Saul Waxman and Mrs. .Bernard
Lachs. Miss Sott, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Harry Sott of Buena
Vista Avenue, attends the University ofIlichigan. The bridegroom- .
elect, Pvt. Irwin G. Kasle, son of Mr. and Mrs. Sam Kasle, of Toledo,
0. is a graduate of Yale University pre-medical school. He has been.
admitted to Johns Hopkins Medical School of .Baltimore, - Md. The
wedding will take place March 10 at Richmond, Va.
Mr. and Mrs. Paul Shapiro of 4834 Cortland hav'e as their guests
their daughter and son-in-law. Major and Mrs. Mike Alpern (Lilyan,
‘Shapiro), and grandchild of Ft. Bragg, N. C. Cpl. and Mrs. Harry
Shapiro also are visiting them. Cpl. Shapiro is stationed at the Mayo
Hospital at Galesburg, Ill.,
Mrs. Leon M. Zechman and daughters, Sue and Dede, have
rived in Orlando, Fla. Sue will begin her studies at the University
of Miami, Coral Gables, on Feb. 27,
Capt. Allen Stiglitz of 2277 Euclid is home on a 30-day leave
-after having spent almost three.years in the Pacific area. He .is visit-
ing with his father, Harry Stiglitz. Capt. Stiglitz and his sister,
Dorothy, visited with his cousins, Mr. and Mrs. M. L. Speer at their
home in Shaker Heights, 0.
Mr. and Mrs. Sam Seltzer of Richton Avenue will leave March
9 for Cincinnati and New York to attend two Bar Mitzvahs.
Miss Iljana Schreiber, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Max Schreiber
of 2308 Glynn Court, was awarded a BS degree from Columbia Uni-
versity this month., She majored in psychology. Miss Schreiber is
now.studying for her Master's Degree. Miss Schreiber visited her
parents here last week after graduating from Columbia. She was
accomnanied here by Miss Altha Alomandi, Brazilian violinist, who
had just returned from an overseas tour of USO camps.
Miss Rose Mermelstein, 2641 Calvert, is leaving for a three-week
vacation in Abilene, Tex., to visit her sister.
Mrs. Ben B. Gallison entertained at the Statler Hotel in honor
•of her niece. Phyllis A. Cherney, who recently was graduated from
Central High and who left to attend the University of Miami, Coral
Gables, Fla. There were 23 of Phyllis' classmates present.
A/S Melvin Winer, USNR, son of Louis Winer of 4014 Duane,
will be home Saturday for a 12-day leave from Great Lakes Naval
Training station.
Mr. and Mrs. Henry Wineman of Hamilton Dr. left Tuesday for

Mr. and Mrs. Mortimer H. Meyer of Suffolk Dr. are planning to
leave Sunday for Palm Beach, Fla., where they will spend a few
weeks.
Mrs. Julian G. Wolfner of Burlington Dr. is expected home this
week-end from Palm Beach, Fla. She will return by way of New
York City where she will spend a few days with her daughter. -
Isabel, who is attending the Finch School.
Mrs. Samuel M. Epstein of Canterbury .Rd. left Tuesday for a
few weeks in Palm Beach, Fla.
Mr. and Mrs. Jack B. Wolfe, of Chicago boulevard, will celebrate
their twenty-fifth wedding anniversary with a "second honeymoon"
to New York, Boston and Philadelphia. Mrs. Wolfe is very active
in many philanthropic' organizations, including the Ladies Auxiliary
of the Jewish War Veterans. A son, Pvt. Bennett S. Wolfe, is
stationed somewhere in Luxembourg.
