CAIRO—Hope faded this week for Ephraim Ben Zuri

their plea for clemency was rejected by the Egyptian grand

Their only hope lies in action by King George VI and
Prime Minister Churchill.

had admitted that he had agreed
with Khakim to shoot Moyne if
it became necessary.
Not Allowed to Speak
Before adjourning the proceed-
ings, the president asked the ac-
cused whether they had anything
to say. Khakim said that he
wished to explain why he had
deserted from the British Army,
since his reasons were similar to
those motivating the murder. He
was not allowed 'to speak by the
judge.
Ben Zuri stated that he dis-
agreed with some of the state-
ments of the defense attorneys
regarding politics, but on the
whole the defense was "brilliant,
and even better than what I had
expected." He publicly thanked
his lawyers.

Revisionists Hit Moyne

Moyne trial could not have been
fair because the British exer-

Pledge Fund Show, Feb. 21

Increased responsibilities of the
Los Angeles Sanatorium have
made necessary the redoubling of
activities and the conducting of
a drive for $250,000 to equip new
hospital buildings, Nathan P.
Epstein, chairman of the Detroit
Auxiliary of the Sanatorium
announced this !week.
Mr. Epstein stated that plans
are being completed to secure a
sum of $25,000 for the erection
of a building at the sanatorium
in the name of Detroit Jewry. A
tablet on the building will bear
the names of Detroit donors—or-
ganizations as well as individuals.
An appeal has been issued by
Mr. Epstein to Detroit Jews to
participate in the sanatorium's
work and to make their contri-
butions to this fund either to
him or at meetings of the Aux-_
iliary which are held at the
Workmen's Educational Center,
