Mr. and Mrs. Morris Baron of Tyler Ave. spent the last week
end in Buffalo visiting with relatives.
Miss Susan Dreifus of Birchcrest Dr. left Tuesday to visit Miss
Joan Baer in Rockford, Ill.
Mr. and Mrs. Roger Ettlinger of Pennington Dr. have as their
guests, Mr. Ettlinger's parents of Chicago.
Mrs. Seth Jacobson and her small son, Ozzie, of Huntington
.Woods, left last Friday for Columbus, Ga., to join Lt. Jacobson.
Capt. Leo Croll, stationed at Crile General Hospital near Cleve-
land, spent a few days with Mrs. Croll and their family in their
home in Fairfield Ave.
Pfc. Merril Kallett, ASTP, is spending 10 days with his parents,
Dr. and Mrs. Herbert Kallett of Muirland Ave. before returning to
his medical studies at Syracuse University.
Among the many parties given for Miss Marjorie Rosenbaum
whose marriage to Harry Jay Nederlander will take place on Jan. 4
was the luncheon given by Mrs. Ralph Schuller and her daughter,
Mrs. Wallace Roberts on Dec. 12 in the Book Cadillac Casino Room,
and the luncheon given by Miss Rolla Jacobs on Dec. 23 at her home
in Boston Blvd.
- Mrs. Charles Feinberg and her daughter, Judith, of Boston Blvd.
and her mother, Mrs. Harry Brown of Longfellow Ave., have left
for a two-month stay in Miami Beach.
Miss Joan Freeman of Boston Blvd. has as her guest this week
Miss Betty Cole of New York City who is her roommate at Vassar.
Miss Ruth Weiner who has been visiting her brother-in-law and
sister, Mr. and Mrs. James H. Hartman of' the Lee Plaza, has returned
to her home in Santa Monica, Cal. -
Mrs. Emil Rose and her children, Marjory, David and Eleanor
of Fairfield Ave., have left for Miami Beach where they will spend
the winter months.
Spending the holiday vacation with their parents, Mr. and Mrs.
Mark Alpern of Mt. Clemens are Barbara Alpern, a student at
Katherine Gibb's Secretarial School in Boston, and Bud Alpern, who
attends Albion College.
Mr. and Mrs. Emanuel Walters and their family of Pinehurst
Ave. have left for Glendale, Calif., where they will make their home.
Mr. and Mrs. Joseph Kozman of Toledo and their son, Pharma-
cist Mate 1/c Arthur Kozman, spent the last week-end as the guests
of Mrs. Kozman's nephew and niece, Mr. and Mrs. George R. Lieber
of Lawrence Ave.
John Friedman has returned to his home in Cincinnati follow-
ing a few days visit with his mother.
Mr. and Mrs. David Cooper and their children, Mary Ann- and
Peter, will return on Dec: 30 from a visit in Chicago, Ill.
On Friday last, Mr. and Mrs. Bernard Bresler of 18665 Green-
lawn were hosts to 50 guests in celebration of their 15th wedding
anniversary. Among the guests were Mr. and Mrs. Abe Robinson
and Mrs. Martha Pollack and son, Bobbie, of Cincinnati.
Flight Officer Arnold Rodin, who has been stationed at Moody
Field, Tex.. is spending his leave with his mother, Mrs. Harry Rodin
of Boston Blvd.
Miss Anne Solomon of Atkinson Ave. is spending a week in
Washington, D. C., visiting her nephew and niece, Sgt. and Mrs.
, Merril Solomon.
Gerald Manko of Calvert Ave. is spending a few days in Cin-
cinnati where he went to attend the runion of Camp Livingstone
campers.
Benjamin Krell of Lawrence Ave. and Max Krell of the Lee
Plaza Apt, are spending the week in Mt. Clemens where they are
guests at the Colonial Hotel. Mrs. Max Krell who spent the week-
end with them has returned.
Patricia A. Paul, a student at Michigan State College, Lansing,
Mich., is spending her vacation with her parents, Mr. and Mrs.
Lester L. Paul of Glynn Court.
Mr. and Mrs. Abraham Glazer of Merton Rd. are leaving this
Sunday for Miami Beach, Fla., where they will visit their daughter,
Mrs. Maurice P. Meyers and her daughter, Harriet.
Miss Virginia Barnett, a student at Olivet College, is spending
her vacation with her parents, Dr. and Mrs. Louis Barnett of Nor-
mandy Ave. The Barnetts' also have had as their guests recently
Mrs. Barnett's brother-in-law and sister, Lt. (j.g.) and Mrs. H. V.
Lee of Waukegan, Ill., and her sister, Mrs. Samuel G. Albert of
Grand Rapids.
Ben Kasle, Seaman 1/c, left Thursday for his post after spending
a 30 day leave with his parents, Mr. and Mrs. Abe Kasle of Atkinson
Ave.

war bond drive. Mrs. Rose
Koven, chairman, states that this
will cover the cost of three X-
Ray machines. Mrs. A. Potikar
is directing an intensive mem-
bership drive. Mrs. N. J. Lip-
pitt, president, announces that at
the next meeting, on Jan. 15, at
the Home, Mrs. H. Bergman will
give a musical program.

alist, and Julius Chajes, com-
poser-pianist. W. Snyder, dir-
ector of the Sholem Aleichem
Institute, will greet the guests.
There will be recitations by
Shirley Soifer, Dora Dombey and
Rena LaMed, pupils of the
schools. Mrs. Ethel Shorr, chair-
man of the event, will introduce
the guest speaker.
The event is sponsored by the
Women's Literary Groups of the
Sholem Aleichem Institute in be-
half of the schools.
Mrs. Braverman has taught
in the Cleveland schools and is
assistant director of the religious
school of the Cleveland Euclid
Ave. Temple. She has contrib-
uted to numerous periodicals and
is the author of a children's. book
on Palestine, "Children of the
Emek."

Installs New Officers

Installation of officers of the
Junior Congregation of the Cen-
tral High School branch of the
-United Hebrew Schools was held
at the morning services on Sab-
bath-Hanukah, in the social hall
of Congregation Bnai David.

Social evening in honor of Ab-
raham J. Rosenshine, Jan. 3, at
8:30 p. m., in the Yeshivah_Beth
Yehudah. Mr. Rosenshine, who
now resides in Los Angeles, is a
former president of Young Israel.
An interesting program has been
arranged, including a talk by Mr.
Rosenshine comparing Jewish
youth problems of Detroit with
those of Los Angeles. Reports on
organizational matters and action
of the board will be heard. The
Women's League of Young Israel
will serve refreshments.

Center Orgamzes
String Orchestra

The music department of the
Jewish Community is organizing
a string orchestra under the di-
rection of Julius Chajes, music
director.
Rehearsals, scheduled to start
Jan. 7, will take place every
Sunday at 12 noon. There is no
age limit, and no fee is received.

of Ugo Carusi as Commissioner
of Immigration and Naturaliza-
tion of the Department of Jus-
tice. Mr. Carusi succeeds Earl G.
