Hanukah Message
Over WWJ Sunday

Rabbi Joshua Sperka of Con-
gregation Bnai. David will broad-
cast a Hanukah message over
station WWJ on Sunday, at 8:45
a. in. The subject is "Hebraism,
Hellenism and Hitlerism," a com-
parative study of these three
philosophies as they affect Jewish
life.

This broadcast is part of a re-
ligious program instituted by
WWJ to bring to the community
the interpretation of Jewish fes-
tivals and holy days. Since its
establishment as a feature of the
Radio Pulpit, WWJ has invited
Rabbi J. Sperka to direct this
program.
Rabbi Sperka also is giving the
noon prayers over WWJ on alter-
nate Fridays.

Vaad Horabonim
Opens New Office

The V a a d Horabonim an-
nounces that, under the auspices
of the "Merkaz," of which Harry
Stolsky is president, they now
occupy a "chamber of justice" at
3367 Lawrence, TO. 8-6778.
They also announce that a com-
mittee of justice council meets
there daily, except Saturdays and
holidays, 12 noon to 3 p.a m., to
take up problems affecting Jew-
ish observance.
The work of the Vaad Hora-
bonim is divided - into the follow-
ing committees: Hashgochoh. on
Kashruth in slaughter-houses,
meat markets, poultry shochtim,
bakeries; Jewish education; mar-
riage, divorce and Taharath ham-
ishpochoh; support for Torah and
Ha tzoloh; Palestine.
A membership meeting is
scheduled for every Monday, 11
to 1 p. m.
The first meeting of the Mer-
kaz in its new office will be held
Saturday evening., in the form of
a 1VI'lava Malka.

The youth problem will be dis-
cussed .at the Shaarey Zedek
Friday evening gathering at 8:30
p. m., Dec. 15. Speakers will in-
clude Charles Rosenblatt and
Max Chomsky, both on the fac-
ulty of the Shaarey Zedek Sun-
day and daily classes.
Young Women of Bnai Brith
Council of Detroit will partici-
pate in the Oneg Shabbat to be
held in the Social Hall. Cantor
Jacob H. Sonenklar will lead the
singing of Sabbath melodies. Re-
freshments will be served.
Dr. A, M. Hershman will
preach the sermon at the Sab-
bath morning servcie on Dec. 16.
