"Earth and High Heaven" and
will be followed by a Hanukah
program. Mrs. Nat Fierberg,

for charitable work of Goodwill
Circle. The public is welcome.

have exceeded their $75,000 quota
in the 6th War Loan and have
already sold $35,000 worth of .
bonds. Martha Silverman, chair-
man of war service for Bnai
Brith Young Women's Council,
reports that the following girls
have sold the most bonds in
their respective auxiliaries: Reva
Cohen and Sophie Schulman,
Deborah; Sylvia Cornfield, Na-
omi; Dorothy 'Weiss and Leone
Weinberg, Rebecca Gratz.

Next Thursday, WOMEN'S
AUXILIARY OF JEWISH HOME
FOR AGED will hold its.. ini-
tial augmented board meeting at
the home of Mrs. I. E. Goodman,
3515 Sherbourne Rd., at 1 o'clock.
A luncheonette will be served
and Thomas Geherty will speak
on Rehabilitation. The Hanukah
party planned for the residents
of the Jewish Home for Aged by
Mrs. J. Rose, chairman of the
sunshine committee, and her co-
-chairman, Mrs. Herman Breg-
man, will take place Sunday.
Gifts will be distributed, and a
program rendered by Sam Pech-
erer, soloist of Jewish Work-
men's Circle chorus: Joel Ber-
man ; violinist and Mrs. Eve
Meister, teacher of dramatics. •

Former Dean to be Honored Organization will present Joseph
C. Grew, Undersecretary of
at Celebration Tuesday;
State and former ambassador to
Program Planned
Japan, Monday, at 8 p. m., in

Dr. Samson R. Weiss, former
dean of Yeshivath Beth Yehudah
will come to Detroit Tuesday to
speak at a Hanukah celebration
at the Yeshivah, Dexter and
Cortland, at 8:30 p. m. He will
be presented with an honorary
resolution, a copy of which has
been inscribed into the Golden
Book of the Yeshivah.
• An opportunity will be given
o the public to view the Golden
Book designed by Dr. Hugo Man-
delbaum, principal of the ele-
mentary department of the
Yeshivah. Dr. Mandelbaum- also
makes the inscriptions.
The history of the Yeshivah
for the past 27 years, its reor-
ganization four years ago and
events are recorded in the Book.
Prominent space is given to
sponsors, life members, -children
in service, and past officers of
the institution.
Parents, members and officers
of synagogues and organiza-
tions received special invitations
to the Hanukah celebration.
Students will participate in the
program. Refreshments will be
served by the Ladies •.of Yeshi-
vath Beth Yehudah. Admission
is free.

John Tomlinson, member of
the : American delegation to the
conference also will speak. Mr.
Grew and Mr.' Tomlinson are on
a tour of the country under the
auspices of the State Depart-
ment.
Co-sponsors of the meeting are
the Foreign Policy Association
and World Study Council. The
public is invited. Admission is
free.

In appreciation for their many
community services, Mr. and
Mrs. Hyman Altman were hon-
ored with ,special congratulatory
resolutions by the board of dir-
ectors of the Chesed shel Emes,
on the-occasion of their 15 years
of broadcasting over Station
WJLB.

Mr. Altman has been a direct-
or of Chesed shel Ernes for many
years. He and Mrs. Altman have
helped the organization, also
known as Hebrew Benevolent
Society, for many years.

Bnai Brith Opens
Fund' Drive, Jan. 15

Greater Detroit Bnai Brith
Council announces that its drive
for $10,000 for the Percy Jones
Hospital projects and the Leo N.
Levi Memorial Hospital will be
marked by a dinner on Dec. 12.
The drive will open officially
on Jan. 15. A rally is scheduled
for Jan. 30 and the campaign will
end March 15.
A membership meeting will be
held at the Louis Marshal head-
quarters Sunday at 11 a. m.
The all-state Red Cross blood
donor drive will be conducted
Mrs. Jacobs Conducts
in February.
Application has been made for
Bnai David Bond Drive
Mrs. Joseph Jacobs, president a charter for the new Harry B.
of the Bnai David Sisterhood, Keidan Bnai Brith Lodge which

"Cards for Fighters" Fund
The Jewish News has received
gifts for the "Cards for Fighters"
fund from Mrs. L. Linden and
Julius Rosenwald Unit No. 218 of
the American Legion. A contri-
bution for $6 was received
"from six boys" through Eli
Rosenbaum.

Hanukah Greetings

New members of the Univer-
sity Unit of Hadassah will be
welcomed at the meeting next
Tuesday, at 1:30 p. m., at the
Mayflower Congregational
Church, 7301 Curtis. Prospective
members are invited. A recep-
tion and tea will follow the pro-
gram.
The program. committee under
the chairmanship of Mrs. Leo
Orecklin will present "Inside
Hadassah," a story dealing with
its many projects. Mrs. Irving
Raimi is chairman of arrange-
ments; Mrs. Joseph Falk is in
charge of the social hour; Mrs.
Harry A. Paysner is membership
chairman; the advisory committee
for the meeting includes Mes-
dames Harry L. Jackson, Carl
Schiller, Harry Barnett and
Harry Jones.
Mrs. Lewis Daniels is in charge
of exhibits at monthly meetings.
Mrs. David Cooper, president of
the University Unit, will report
on the National Presidents' Con-
ference held in Cleveland. „
