Congregation Bnai Moshe was
organized 33 years ago and for
six years conducted religious ser-
vices on the east side until 1917,
when its first synagogue was
dedicated on Garfield at Beau-
bien. It was named "Bnai Moshe,"
"Sons of Moses" in honor of the
late Morris Gunsberg, who died
in 1931. The present site at Dex-
ter and Lawrence was purchased
and the building was dedicated
in 1929.
11 Members in 1911
From a humble beginning in
1911 of 11 members, the con-
gregation grew to 70 families in
1917, 300 in 1929 and now num-
bers 500 families.
The campaign commenced in
November, 194::,, under the ad-
ministration of Adolph Beck.
Under his sucessor in the presi-
dency, Harry Rosman, two thirds
of the amqunt Was subscribed
and the drive ended on Sept. 1,
1944, when the final installment
on the mortgage was paid.
The.
mortgage liquida-
tion committee was headed by
past president Joseph Kornfield,
chairman, and Irwin Tamler and
Harry Samler, co-chairmen.

ment of a Jewish Dominion of
Palestine as a means of reconcil-
ing Britain's essential interests in
that country with its pledge to
the Jews to create a national
homeland for them there, was
urged by Lord Strabolgi, presi-
dent of the newly-formed .Jewish
Dominion of Palestine League.
