Final preparations for the
Bnai Moshe mortgage burning
banquet on Dec. 10 are being
made by the committees coor-
dinated under the general chair-
manship of Mrs. Harry Rosman.
The committee on attendance,
headed by Mrs. Louise Kepes
and Mrs. Alex Fisch, 'reports that
a large turnout is assured and
that reservations are being ac-
cepted at the congregation office.
A souvenir book to commem-
orate the occasion will contain
the history of the congregation
and will feature the Honor Roll
of 250 sons of members in the
armed services. The book is
edited by Ben F. Goldman, who
performed a similar task in
1929 when the Synagogue was
dedicated on its present site.
The guest speaker of the even-
ing will be Rabbi Leo Jung - of
New York.
Assisting Mrs. Rosman are Mrs.
Adolph Deutsch, co-chairman,
Mesdames Adolph Beck, Morris
Rosenberg Louis Gunsberg, Sam
Freedman, I. E. Goodman, Ralph
Beck, Harry Robinson and Bert
Ruby.
The congregation committee
assisting the Sisterhood is com-
posed of Ben F. Goldman, Harry
Rosman, Irwin Tamler, Eugene
Weiss, Morris Rosenberg and
Theodore M. Curtis.
On Dec. 6, the Sisterhood will
sponsor a card party for the
benefit of the Ida Hibbard fund
which provides plastic limbs for
war veterans. Mrs. Fay Freeman
is chairman of the affair and
Mrs. Lester Uray is treasurer.
Mrs. Eugene Gelbman and Mrs.
Emery Ehrenwald are in charge
of attendance. The public is wel-
come.

Rabbi Groner Guest
At Shaarey Zedek
Gathering Friday

Rabbi Benjamin Groner of
Congregation Shaar Hashomaim,
Windsor, will speak at this Fri-
day evening's Oneg Sabbat_gath-
ering at Shaarey Zedek on "Old
Wine in New Bottles."
There will be musical selec-
tions of Sabbath melodies by
Cantor Jacob H. Sonenklar. This
will be followed by community
singing. Following the oneg
Shabbot program refreshments
will be served by the Sisterhood.
Rabbi Groner also will preach
the Sabbath morning sermon at
Shaarey Zedek. Cantor Jacob
H. Sonenklar will officiate.
Dr. Jacob Weinstein, rabbi of
Chicago's Temple K. A. M., will
speak at the social gathering on
Dec. 8, it was announced by
Harry Cohen, president of the
congregation.
Dr. Weinstein also will preach
on • the Sabbath Dec. 9.

N. Y. Round Table
Leader to Lecture

This Friday evening, at the
Sabbath Eve services of Temple
Beth El, Dr. B. Benedict Glazer
will preach on the subject "The
Four Basic Fears of Americans:
How Do They Affect the Four
Freedoms? What Can We Do to
Overcome Them?"
The Temple quartet under the
direction of Julius Chajes will
render the musical program.
Jason Tickton will be at the or-
gan.
A social hour under the aus-
piceS of the Sisterhood will fol-
low the service to which all are
invited.

Elects Officers

New Northwest Congrega-
tion Buys Lot; Hanukah
Party Dec. 10

Purchase of a lot for the erec-
tion of an orthodox synagogue
in the northwest section of De-
troit and selection of officers and
committees was announced this
week.
Formation of the new syna-
gogue under the name Congre-
gation Beth Aaron was decided
upon at a meeting on Nov. 12 at
the home of Alex Margulies,
18240 Ohio. I. Sosnick addressed
the meeting and commended the
group for planning an orthodox
congregation in the northwest
section.
Mr. Margulies was elected
president. Other officers are: S.
Rubin and Morris Schneider,
vice-presidents; George Schneid-
er, secretary; Louis Levine,- treas-
urer.
The lot purchased for the
synagogue is - located on the
northeast corner of Thatcher. and
Wyoming.
The retention of temporary
headquarters at 18240 Ohio,
where Sabbath services are now
being conducted regularly, has
been announced.
Those desiring to become
charter members of the syna-
gogue are asked to come to the
Hanukah dedication party on
Sunday evening, Dec. 10, at 18240
Ohio. Rabbi Isaac Stollman will
be guest speaker.

maintains a day school for first
and second grades with full
public school credit, under super-
vision of the Board tf Educa-
tion and Board of Health. -Plans
have been completed for the
opening of a third grade in Feb-
ruary: A kindergarten with two
sessions is filled. The Yeshivah
also maintains five classes of the
Beth Jacob Religious School for
Girls, and branches in various
sections of the city.
The budget calls for the raising
of $10,000 in contributions and
patronages for the third annual
dinner at Shaarey Zedek on Feb.

Council of America in recognition of 30 years of rescue, relief
and rehabilitation work of the Joint Distribution Committee.

work of the Joint Distribution . Committee and the following

Selections from Handel's Ora-
torio "Judas Maccabeus" will
feature the Sabbath Eve services
of Temple Israel Dec. 8, in the
auditorium of the Detroit Insti-
tute of Arts.

The Choir of -Temple Israel,.
under the direction of Dan Froh-
man, will sing "See the Conquer-
ing Hero Come." Cantor Robert
S. Tulman will render the solos
"Sound an Alarm" and "Arm,
Arm, ye Brave." Karl W. Haas,
the organist, will render inter-

The "Maccabeus" will be sung
in anticipation of the Feast of
Hanukah.

announces plans for a "Dedica-
tion to Jewish Learning Pro-
gram" for five classes, with the
35 first graders carrying out the
