The most shocking news of the
week contained in the casualty
lists is the announcement of the
death in action, in Italy, on Oct.
20, of Sol (Sholem) Moldawsky,
20, son of Rabbi Ben Zion Mol-
dawsky of 1736 Blaine Ave.
Sol is the second son of Rabbi
Moldawsky to die in service. An-
other son, Chaim, 23, died in
May, 1943, in an air crash in
Canada where he served with the
air corps.
Both servicemen were high
school graduates and had studied
in the United Hebrew Schools of
Detroit.
Another son, Pvt. David Mol-
dawsky, is serving with the army
in Arizona.
Other survivors are a brother,
Harold, in California, a brother,
Max, in Toledo; three sisters,

Drum-Bugle Corps

Jewish War Veterans of the
U. S. will add to their Color
Guard Corps of the Department
of Michigan a unit of 100 boys,
uniformed and equipped with
musical instruments, to be known
as the Junior Drum and Bugle
Corps. It will be part of the
parent group supervised by
Joseph Jones.
- JDBC will participate in par-
ades and at public functions.
Jewish boys between 10 and 18,
are eligible for the corps. Ad-
mittance will be open to all Jew-
ish boys in Detroit.
Applications are now being ac-
cepted at JWV headquarters,

1944.
His uncle, T-5 Joseph Felstein,
is a cook serving in France. A
cousin. Cpl. Lawrence Striph, is
with the infantry in England.

he was a student at the Univer-
sity of Michigan and was out-

stein." He majored in biochem-
istry and philosophy and was an

Cass High School from which he
was graduated at the age of 16.
At Cass he was a member of the
National Honor Society.
Besides his parents he is sur-
vived by two brothers, twins.
