Mental Wizard Next
On Adventure Series

Polgar, the sensational mental
wizard, will appear at the World
Adventure Series in the Detroit
Institute of Arts, Woodward at
Kirby, next Sunday afternoon to
give a demonstration, "Miracles
of the Mind."
"Singapore Joe" Fisher, world
traveller, will present a natural
color motion picture and lecture
based on his homeland; Singa-
pore and Malaya, when he ap-
pears at the World Adventure

Miss Gurvitch's program will
range from the classics to the
latest and most complex of the
moderns, and will include num-
bers by Schumann, Chopin, .De-
bussey, Scarlatti, Prokofieff and
Khatchourian.
Widely known in Detroit mu-
sic circles,. Miss Gurvitch has
made many appearances at the
Jewish -.Community Center and
the Workmen's . Circle. Last
April she appeared with a string
ensemble which presented for
the first time in Detroit the
music of .Henock Kon, Polish-
Jewish refugee_ composer.
Miss Gurvitch has entertained
at many benefit and war relief
functions, including a program
last spring which honored Mrs.
Nila Magidoff, Russian-born wife
of "the radio commentator, Robert
Magidoff. In 1940, Miss Gurvitch
was soloist in the first Detroit
performace of the Shostakovitch
Piano Concerto with the Michi-
gan Symphony Orchestra di-
rected by Valter Poole.

Gypsy 'Medley Sunday

JDC Sets 30th Annual
Meeting in N. Y., Dec. 10
