Yiddish Folks Ferein of Detroit, which was
the first Jewish organization in Detroit to insert
an inscription in the Golden Book of the Jewish
National Fund in honor of Dr. Stephen S. Wise,
this week again led the way by inserting the
first Detroit inscription in the speCial Golden
Book in honor of the 70th birthday of Dr. Chaim
Weizmann, president of the World Zionist Or-
- ganization.
The presentation of a check for the two in-
. scriptions was made Monday evening, at a
meeting of Yiddish Folks Ferein at the Beth
Tefilo Emanuel Hall, Taylor and Woodrow Wil-
son, to William Hordes, president of the Jewish
National Fund Council of Detroit.

Lecture Series on
Jewish Endeavors

the graduating classes of the
United Hebrew Schools with the
social, educational, . recreational
and philanthropic endeavors of
the Jews in America, with special
reference to Detroit, several lead-
ers in the community were in-
vited to discuss with the grad-
uates Jewish institutions, causes
and agencies, as well as the War
Chest.
The first lecture on the history
of Jewish philanthrophy was de-
livered by Fred M. Butzel on
Nov. 8, at \the David W. Simons
School.
Isidore Sobeloff, executive di-
rector of 'the Jewish Welfare Fed-
eration, will be the next speaker
on the topic "The Detroit Jewish
Welfare Federatio n," next
Wednesday, at 5:30 p. ,m., at the

Philip Slomovitz, editor of The

Gov. Harry F. Kelly was one of
14 governors who issued state-
ments in support Of the Balfour
Declaration on the occasion of the
27th anniversary of the Balfour
Declaration on Nov. 2.
