WRB and the War Chest

Informed leaders in Washington have
f^
stated during the past week that they are
confident that Congress will approve a reso-
lution to extend the life of the War Refugee
Board.
This prediction definitely indicates that
our government will assist and encourage
efforts to rescue as many victims of Nazism
as can possibly be saved and that the great
relief effort will be increased as time goes
on.
The continuation of the War Refugee
Board places great responsibility upon the
community agencies which have been or-
ganized for the purpose of providing means
of relief and rehabilitation for the millions
who must be saved. Without the private
funds now being gathered by the National
War Chest, the rescue work will stop.

"Excessive eating," says the Talmud, " is like
deadly poison to the body of men and is the
cause of diseases." '
"Most maladies which befall men arise either
from unwholesome food or from excessive eat,.
ing of wholesome food. To this Solomon wisely
alludes: 'Whosoever keepeth his mouth and tongue
keepeth his life from troubles' (Prov. XVI:23),
referring to the one who keeps his mouth from.
eating unhealthy food or from gluttony, and his
tongue from speaking except what is necessary
for bhis daily needs."
"One should guard against a person's .perS-
piration, because it is like a deadly poison."
"One should not allow any food to come into
contact with any part of his body which is pers-
piring, nor should anyone -put money in one's
mouth, as some perspiration may cling to it, since
it has circulated thru many hands, including peo-
ple with infectious diseases."
"Meat and milk are prohibited to be eaten
or cooked together, nor may they be used together
for one's benefit."

This is a task that must not be impaired
or interrupted.
The work of rescue must go on, and the
largest possible funds must be gathered for
immediate efforts and for future reserve
activities.
