ACTIVITIES IN SOCIETY

Capt. Marc Dale, M. C., who has been on duty in the Southwest
Pacific for the last two years, is spending a three-week leave with
Mrs. Gross who has been making her home with her parents, Mr.
and Mrs. Julius Gross of Washburn Ave. He is the son of Mr. and
Mrs. Julius Blumenthal of Calvert Ave.
Complimenting-Miss Eileen Steingold and her fiance, Lt. Milton
H. Aronson, Dr. and Mrs. Maurice Goldstick were hosts at a dinner '
and pantry shower in their home in East Lansing last Sunday eve-
ning. This Saturday, Miss Pearl Epstein of Calvert Ave. has invited
a group of friends to a luncheon at Frames given in Miss Steingold's
honor.

Lr. (j.g.) and Mrs. Leonard Mirvis are visiting their parents, Mr.
and Mrs. Aaron Fried of Lawrence Ave. and Samuel Mirvis of Oak

' Mr. and Mrs. Lawrence Kert of Toronto spent the last week-end
in Windsor where they attended the wedding of Mrs. Kert's cousin,
Miss Lydia Bernstein.
Mrs. Irwin Salwen has returned to Junction City, Kan., where
her husband, Sgt. Salwen, is stationed at Fort Riley, after a short
visit with her parents, Mr. and Mrs. Isadore Gallow of Calvert Ave.
Mrs. Herman Sachs and her son, Charles, of Wakefield Ave.
are leaving this Friday for Miami Beach, Fla., where they will spend
the winter.
Mrs. Herbert Weiss returned Monday to her home in Toronto
after a fortnight's visit with her brother-in-law and sister-in-law,
Mr. and Mrs. Milton Meretzky of Windsor.
Mrs. A. M. Spitzer retuTned to her home in South Bend, Ind.,
Wednesday after a few weeks' visit with her children, Mr. and Mrs.
Harold Spitzer of Mack Ave.
In celebration of his 75th birthday, Joseph Rader of Richton
Ave. was honored at a family dinner at Schiff and Moss on Clair-
mont Ave. last Tuesday evening:

Miss Lois Rose, who is attending Michigan State College, spent

Miss Elaine Frances Keating has returned to her home in Chi-
cago, Ill., after a fortnight's visit in New York and as the guest in
Detroit of her uncle and aunt, Mr. and Mrs. Benjamin E, Cowan

10th Annual NHJC
Theatre Fete Nov. 7

Betrothed

A prevue of an outstanding
picture, in addition to newsreels,
comedies and other entertain-
ment, will be presented at the
10th annual theater party of the
Detroit League of the National
Home for Jewish Children of
Denver, Tuesday evening, Nov.
7, in the auditorium of the De-
troit Institute of Arts. This is the
major fund raising project of
the League. Proceeds will be
sent to the Home at Denver
which cares for underprivileged
children from all parts of the
country who have been exposed
to tuberculosis and are suffering
from respiratory diseases.
Mrs. Leon M. Zechman is presi-
dent of the League. '
Mrs. Irving Swaab, general
chairman of the theater party,
is assisted by Mrs. Sidney Sher-
man and Mrs. Moe Prince, ticket
chairman; Mrs. Jack Berger and
Mrs. Charles Agree, arrangements
chairmen; Mrs. Samuel Schwartz
and Mrs. Robert S. Drews, pro-
gram chairmen, Mrs. William
Stark, tribute chairman.
Mrs. Schwartz advises that
after Oct. 23, no material will be
accepted for the Program Book.

tor Gartenhaus officiated at the
ceremony, at the Bnai David
Synagogue.
The bride wore a white satin
princess-styled gown, with a
seed pearl tiarra, and carried an
orchid on a prayer book. The
maid of honor, Miss Vicky Wolk,
wore a gray and cerise gown,
and carried a bouquet of scar-
let gladiolas. The best man was
Capt. Hyman Unovitz, USA.
A reception was held in the
social hall of the synagogue,
where a buffet dinner was serv-
ed. The couple left for a week's
honeymoon in Milwaukee.
Mrs. Pack has joined her hus-
band in Joplin, Mo., where he
is stationed.

Mrs. Ruth Kushner, president
of Jewish Women's Service Club,
announces that Nov. 8 has been
chosen as the date for the sec-
ond annual card party to be
held at the Bnai Moshe. Pro-
ceeds will go to war relief. Mrs.
Florence Golding, TO. 6-3740, is
chairman of the affair.
The membership drive will
continue through Dec e m b e r.
Married women of 25 to 35 are
eligible. Those interested in
