ACTIVITIES IN SOCIETY

Lt. Arnold N. Agree returned last Saturday to his post with the
B-29 Group at Dallart, Tex. following a week's leave spent with
his parents Mr. and Mrs. Charles Agree of the Detroit Hotel.
Mr. and Mrs. Arthur Arthur returned on Tuesday to their
home in Toronto following a visit with friends in Detroit and
Windsor.
Cpl. and Mrs. Richard Kopel are visiting their parents, Dr.
and Mrs. Joseph 0. Kopel of Chicago Blvd. Cpl. Kopel is stationed
at Truax Field, Madison, Wis.
Miss Mary Wilkus, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. David Wilkus of
Boston Blvd., will leave this Sunday for Boulder, Colorado, where
she will attend the University of Colorado.
Cadet Donald Hartman who is stationed at Big Springs, Tex.,
is spending a 10-day furlough with his parents, Mr. and Mrs. Sam-
uel Hartman of Shrewsbury Rd. His grandparents, Mr. and Mrs.
Max Rosenbloom, returned Tuesday to their home in Cleveland
following a few days visit with their family.
Mr. and Mrs. William Mazer had as their guests last week-end,
Mr. and Mrs. Burton Amster of Cleveland.
Dr.. and Mrs. Samson Wittenberg of Burlingame Ave. had as
their guests last week-end in honor of their son, Bernard Harold's
Bar Mitzvah, Mrs. Herman Herman, Mr. and Mrs. Samuel Granish
and Samuel Zerlin of New York City. Mr. and Mrs. Robert Wit-
tenberg, Samson Wittenberg, Mr. and Mrs. Maxwell Robbins and
their daughters, Shirley and Mrs. Saunder Robbins of Cleveland;
Mr. and Mrs. Solomon Wittenberg of Montreal, and Mrs. John
Glass and David Garfinkel of Toronto.
Milton Strauss of the Chatham Apt. has returned from a short
visit in Philadelphia while Mrs. Strauss who accompanied him will
return a week later.
Mr. and Mrs. Lewis Frank left last Sunday for Oxford, 0.,
where they will visit their daughter, Betty, wH'o is attending West-
ern College, and will spend a few days in Cincinnati before re-
turning home.
Mr. and Mrs. Sol A. Wolff of Lawrence Ave. are planning to
leave this week-end for a visit in New York City.
Seaman 2/C Robert Kuttnauer returned on Wednesday to his
post at the Great Lakes Naval Training Center after spending his
leave with his parents, Mr. and Mrs. DeRoy Kuttnauer of Birch-
crest Dr.
Mr. and Mrs. Jacob Perlmutter of Edison Ave. are spending
the week with friends in Butler, Pa.
Cpl. Myron Rosenthal left Tuesday for his post in Topeka,
Kan., following a few days furlough with his parents, Mr. and Mrs.
Isaac Rosenthal of „Blaine Ave.
Lt. Louis Grabow returned last Sunday to his post at Camp
Lunam, Las Vegas, N. M., following a week with his parents, Mr.
and Mrs. Isadore Grabow of Dexter Blvd.
Mrs. Benjamin Pupko of the Lee Plaza Apt. has returned from
a visit in New York City.
Mrs. Joseph Holtzman of Oak Dr. left for California where
she will spend the next six weeks.
F/0 Stewart Greene returned to his post on Monday follow-
ing a short leave with his parents, Mr. and Mrs. N. J. Greene of
Oak Dr.
Complimenting Miss Eileen Steingold whose marriage to Lt.
Milton H. Aronson will take place on Oct. 29, Miss Harriet Stern
of Philadelphia Ave. was hostess at a luncheon last .Saturday at
the Statler Terrace Room, and Mrs. Philip Kravitz gave a buffet
dinner and shower last Tuesday in her home on Monica Ave. This
Saturday, in Miss Steingold's honor, Mrs. William Greenwald of
the Wilshire Hotel, and Mrs. Nathan Steingold of Edison Ave.
will be joint hostesses at a luncheon and shower at the Book Cadil-
lac Hotel, and Mrs. Max .Goldhoff of Webb Ave. is planning a
luncheon for next Thursday.
Sgt. Joseph Weizenbaum who is stationed at Biggs Field, Texas,
is spending a short furlough with his parents, Mr. and Mrs. Harry
Weizenbaum of Atkinson Ave.
Pvt. Raymond Jacobstein who is stationed at Camp Chaffee.
Ark., spent a short furlough with his parents, Mr. and Mrs. B. M.
Jacobstein of Petosky Ave.
Miss Renee Friedman of Ilene Ave. has returned from an ex-
tended visit in Los Angeles and Tacoma, Wash.
Mrs. N. Rothenberg of 2654 Elmhurst Ave. has returned from
Lidland, Tex., after a three-month visit with her daughter, son-in-
law and their new son, Richard Jordan Berman.
Mr. and Mrs. Maurice H. Zackheim and son, Dr. Herschel Zack-
beim, have returned from Buffalo, N. Y., where they attended the
funeral of Mrs. Zackheim's father, Solomon Kreinson.

direction of Dan Frohman will
present the Cantata. The tra-
ditional Sabbath day will be
outlined in song by this choral
group.

Beth Yehudah Ladies'
Donor Luncheon, Oct. 31

Ladies of Yeshivath Beth Ye-
hudah are sponsoring their an-
nual donor luncheon at the
Yeshivah Bldg., Dexter and Cort-
land, Tuesday, Oct. 31, at 12:30
p. m.
A Victory Honor Roll will be
dedicated to sons, daughters,
grandsons and granddaughters in
the armed forces and will be un-
veiled at the luncheon. The
ladies organization sponsors the
Girls' Beth Jacob School and
Kindergarten, and proceeds from
the luncheon will go toward their
maintenance.

JDC Approves Loan
to Montevideo Jewry

The Joint Distribution Com-
mittee has approved a loan of
$4,000 to assist the' Association
Gilantropica Israelita in Monte-
video to purchase and remodel a
children's home, Joseph C. Hy-
man, executive vice-chairman of
the JDC, announced.
Of the total cost of the home,
$12,000, the community has as-
sumed responsibility for financ-
ing two-thirds.

Mrs. Lawrence Crohn, co-
chairman of the program com-
mittee of the Sisterhood of Con-
gregation Shaarey Zedek, an-
nounces that at the next meet-
ing, on Monday, in the social
hall of the synagogue, the sub-
ject of the afternoon, "They Not
Only Sit and Wait—But Also
Serve Valiantly," will be pre-
sented by Mrs. Allen B. Crow
and Miss Alice Walsh, the guest
speakers. This is to be the sec-
ond in a series of meetings de-
voted to "Women at War."
Mrs. Nathan Spevakow will
preside and a report will be
given on the successful clothing
drive sponsored by the Sister-
hood at the request of the
UNRRA. This clothing is to be
sent to refugees overseas.
A dessert-luncheon to precede
the meeting is scheduled for
12:30 p. m. in the social hall.
The social committee, headed by
Mrs. Louis Seiton, Mrs. Maxwell
Mathis and Mrs. Morris Krause,
is in charge of arrangements.
