Miss Rita Lynn Aronoff, whose marriage to Joseph R. Roth,
on of Mr. and Mrs. William R. Roth of Canterbury Road, will
take place at 6:30 p. in. this Sunday at the Book-Cadillac Hotel,
was honored at a tea given by her mother, Mrs. Walter Aronoff,
of Warrington Drive, on July 29, and at the following additional
affairs: Aug: 12, a luncheon at Hotel Statler given by Mrs. Albert
Owens and Mrs. Seymour Owens; Aug. 30, a luncheon at the Book
Casino given by Mrs. Al Weisman; Sept. 2, a miscellaneous shower
at the Franklin Hills Country Club, given by the Misses Doris
Lee Rothberg, Rolla Jacob, Shirley Goldman, and Idell Lautmann;
Sept. 6, a luncheon at the Statler given by Mrs. Roth, mother of
bridegroom-elect; Sept. 9, a luncheon at Huylers, given by Mrs.
Phillip Greenwald; Sept. 15, a luncheon at Huylers given by Mrs.
Bernard Komer; Sept. 16, a linen shower at Women's City Club
given by Mrs. Julius Green; Sept. 23, a miscellaneous shower at
the Whittier Hotel given by Mrs. Reuben Allender; Sept. 28, a
luncheon at the Terrace Room, given by Mrs. Joseph Ehrlich;
Sept. 30, luncheon at the Book-Cadillac Hotel, given by Mrs.
George Aronoff and Miss Pearl Devenou. On Oct. 13, Mr. and Mrs.
Walter Aronoff will entertain the bridal party at a rehearsal
dinner at the Statler Terrace Room. •
Miss Phyliss Rossen, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. William Rossen
of Sturtevant Ave., left for Champaign, Ill., to attend the Uni-
versity of Illinois.
Mr. and Mrs. Frank L. Tessler and son, Martin Edward, of
LaSalle Blvd. have left to make their home in Miami Beach, Fla.
They were also joined by their mother, Mrs. Max Tessler of
Cortland Ave.
Cpl. and Mrs. Bernard Bliefield (Prudy Lesser) are on a
three-week visit with their parents in Detroit, before returning to
Santa Maria, Calif. where Cpl. Bliefield is stationed.
Miss Arlene Beverly Fenton, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Morry
M. Fenton of the Book-Cadillac Hotel, has left for Ormond Beach,
Fla., to resume her studies at the Casements School.
Mr. and Mrs. Louis Hoberman were hosts to a group of service-
men at a party, Sept. 23, sponsored by Omega Aeta Chi Sorority.
Hostesses were the newly elected officers: Miss Betty Hoberman,
president; Miss Shirley Green, vice-official; Miss Marilyn Adler, sec-
retary; Miss Diana Broder, treasurer, and the Misses Ann Silver and
Miss Rose Modell of Canada.
Mr. and Mrs. Harry Farbsten of Burlington Rd. have returned
from Chicago where they spent a week visiting with their son and
daughter-in-law, Mr. and Mrs. Lee Farbsten.

Dr. and Mrs. B. Benedict Glazer of the Lee Plaza Apt. have
-returned from a visit in New- York City.

Mrs. Robert Newberger and her small son, Robert Jr., of Phila-
delphia are spending 10 days with Mrs. Newberger's parents, Mr.
and Mrs. Miles Finsterwald of Balmoral Dr.
Mr. and Mrs. Howard .Kaichen of Huntington Woods are plan-
ning to leave this Saturday for Hot Springs, Va., where they will
be guests at the DeVine Cottage.
Mr. and Mrs. Harry Phillips have moved from West Seven
Mile Rd. and are now residing at 18634 Fairfie,ld Ave.
Mr. and Mrs. Herbert M. Meyer of Chicago Blvd. had as their
guests for a few days last week Miss Ann Loewenstein and her
aunt, Mrs. Bertha Anderson of Alabama.
Mrs. J. J. Marks of Broadstreet Blvd. and Miss Helen Solomon
of Atkinson Ave. returned on Sunday from a few days' visit in
London, Ont.

-Mrs. Benjamin Shwayder has returned from a visit in Chicago,
she was accompanied home by her father, Michael Clamage, who
will remain for an extended visit.
Mrs. Alfred Dreifuss of Birchcrest Dr. has returned from a few
days' visit in Chicago.
Mr. and Mrs. Jack Brody have returned to their home in Pitts-
burgh after a few days' visit with Mr: Brody's brother-in-law and
sister, Mr. and Mrs. Lawrence Crohn of Wildemere Ave.
Mr. and Mrs. Leon G. Winkelman of Fairfield Ave. are spend-
ing 10 days visiting Mrs. Winkelman's mother, Mrs. Henry Rosen-
blum in Gladstone, Mich.
Miss Selma Sampliner of the Chatham Apt. has returned from
a month's visit in Los Angeles, Calif.
Mr. and Mrs. Tobias Fuller of 3809 Sturtevant honored their
son, Arnold, with a Bar Mitzvah party at the Park Ave. Hotel.
Dinner was served to 130 people.
Miss Elaine Rae Glass, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. S. Glass of
18240 San Juan, left on Sept. 26 to _resume her studies at the Uni-
versity of Illinois, Champaign, Ill.
Misses Dottie Rosen, Betty Kurtz and Pat Newman left Oct.
6 for Chicago for a brief vacation.
Mrs. Lewis H. Levin of Grand Ave. left for Denver, Colo., where
she is visiting her son, Pvt. Newton A. Levin, who is stationed at
Lowrey Field, Colo.

One of the accepted forms of
contribution is that of planting
trees to enrich the soil. But an-
other very fine method of con-
tributing to National Fund is the
Sefer Bar Mitzvah. Parents and
friends may honor the Bar Mitz-
vah by inscribing his name in
the Sefer Bar Mitzvah, at a cost
of $15. An impressive certificate
with the lad's picture will be
issued upon receipt of such a

Jewish Youth Group
Plans Paper Drive

The War Activities Committee
of the League of Jewish Youth
will hold the second paper and
scrap drive on Sunday, starting
at 10 a. m. -
The area to be covered extends
from Joy Rd. to Davison and
Dexter Blvd. to Linwood.
Working on this project are:
Miss Bertha Belkin, president of
the League of Jewish Youth;
Miss Shirley Stocker, chairman
of the war efforts committee;
Miss Marian Lewis, chairman of
the paper and scrap drive.
The paper will be collected in
a house-to-house canvass. Resi-,
dents are asked to leave their

SOLOMON-HYMOWITZ: The
marriage of Miss Florence Bar-
bara Hymowitz, daughter of Mrs.
JoSeph Hymowitz of Washington,
D. C., and the late Mr. Hymowitz
to Sgt. Merryle B. Solomon, U. S.
A. A. F., son of Henry Solomon
of Fairview, Mich., and the late
Mrs. Solomon, took place Sunday
at noon in the Washington He-
brew Congregation Chapel,
Washington, D. C.

The bride was dressed in a
powder blue dressmaker suit
with matching hat, and wore an
orchid corsage. Miss Freda Hy-
mowitz, sister of the bride, was
her only attendant, and Henry
Solomon, the bridegroom's fa-
ther, served as best man. Rabbi
Norman Gerstenfeld officiated at
the ceremony.
Following the wedding lunch-
eon at the Shoreham Hotel, Sgt.
and Mrs. Solomon left for a two-
week wedding trip. They will
make their home in Washington.
The bride attended New York
University and the University of
Alabama. Sgt. Solomon who was
graduated from Olivet college in
1942, is now stationed at Bolling
Field.
