Harry S. Grant Felicitated
On His Sixty-Fifth Birthday

Grant has played a prominent part in recent efforts to revive
the hospital movement in Detroit.

Pisgah Receives Honors

Gets Menorah on Becoming
Largest Bnai Brith Lodge

. Midwestern leaders of Bnai
Brith came to Detroit Monday to
honor Pisgah Lodge No. 34 on the
occasion of its reaching the status
of the largest Bnai Brith lodge in
the world. The celebration meet-
ing was held at the Jewish Com-
munity Center.
Isaac Wagner and Ben Z. Glass
of Chicago, president and execu-
tive secretary respectively of Dis-
trict Grand Lodge No. 6, who ad-
dressed the impressive meeting,
presented the lodge with a seven-
branched Menorah as a fitting
token of recognition of Pisgah's
great achievement.
Isadore Starr, former president,
under whose administration the
lodge reached this status, presided
at the meeting in his capacity as
chairman of the program com-
mittee.

Brings U. S. Reply

H. Weizenbaum of 9150 12th
St., who has submitted pro-
posal to President Roosevelt that
the Nazis be used to rebuild the
countries they devastated, has
received a reply from Richard
W. Morin, Acting Chief, Division
of Public Liaison, who writes:
"I wish to express appreciation
for the comments and suggestions
contained in your communica-
tion, received by reference from
the White House. Please be as-
sured 'that the expression of your
views" will receive the Depart-
ment's consideration and is wel-
comed at all times."

pressed the hope that Bnai Brith
services will be carried on with
great zeal for the benefit of the
community.
Jack Leeds, a former Pisgah
vice-president, here on furlough
from the Navy, and Jack Lawson,
who were co-chairmen of the
membership committee which se-
cured 1,100 new members to give
Pisgah its present status of lead-
ership, accepted the honor in be-
half of the lodge. They presented
a plaque with the names of 43
members each of whom brought
in 10 new members in last year's
drive.
A feature of the meeting was
the initiation of a group of new
members by the degree team con-
sisting of Elias Goldberg, Samuel
W. Leib, Joseph L. Staub, Cle-
ment Weitzman and Aaron Ro-
senberg.
Cantor J. H. Sonenklar, accom-
panied by Lillian Robbins, sang
the solo parts during the initia-
tion and sang other selections.

Hold Symposium
On Postwar Jewry

Feature Marshall Lodge's
Open, Meeting Tuesday
at Workman's Circle.

Four Detroit leaders will parti-
cipate in a discusion of problems
which will face post-war Jewry,
in the symposium which will
feature the open meeting of De-
troit Louis Marshall Lodge of
Bnai Brith on Tuesday evening
at Workmen's Circle Educational
Center, 11529 Linwood. They are:
Saul R. Levin, Consul for the
Honduras and legal advisor to
the Mexican Consulate in De-
troit, recognized as an expert on
Latin American problems. 'He
will speak on "The Jews in Latin
America." Isaac Franck, execu-
tive director of the Jewish Com-
munity Council, will discuss the
position of U. S. „Jewry; Rabbi
Leon Fram of Temple Israel,
president of the Zionist Organ-
ization. of Detroit, will deal with
the subject of Palestine, and
Dr..' Shmarya Kleinman, a stu-
dent of social problems, will
speak on the European situa-
tion.

Plans Luncheon,
Fashion Review

Home Relief Society heard re-
ports on plans for the luncheon
and fashion review, to take place
Oct. 31, at the Book-Cadillac
Hotel, at a meeting of the board
at - the home of Mrs. Arthur
Gould.
Mrs. Adolph Deutsch, chairman
of the affair, and Mrs. Arthur
Gilbert, chairman of pledges,
urged that reservations be made
at once. Mrs. Sam Marks, year-
book chairman, UN. 1-3608, an-
nounced that insertions will be
'accepted until Oct. 15. Mrs. Peter
Miller, chairman of arrange-
ments, said that one of the prizes
will include a dress to be mod-
eled. The fashion show will be
staged by one of Detroit's lead-
ing stores.
Mrs. Irving Small, president,
announces that special meetings
will be held on Thursday, Oct. 5,
at 1 p.m. at the home of Mrs. H.
Lessin, 900 Whitmore Rd.; on
Thursday, Oct. 12, at 1 p.m., at
the home of Mrs. Sam Arkin,
4055 Glendale; on Thursday, Oct.
19, at 1 p.M., at the home of Mrs.
Ben J. Rudin, 3233 Collingw.00d.
The Victory meeting will be held
Oct. 23 at 1 p.m. at the home of
Mrs. Ben B. Schwartz on Blaine.
