I ACTIVITIES IN SOCIETY
Miss Bernice Bronstein, who has just completed a two-year
_teaching fellowship at Wayne University College of Medicine and
has been given 'the degree of Master of Science in Bacteriology,
was entertained at a party given in her honor by her sister and
brother-in-law, Mr. and Mrs. William Gershenson.
Rocquettes 'Club entertained at a farewell party in honor of
Miss Yetta Indenbaum who is leaving for Atlanta, Ga.
Mr. and Mrs. Nathan L. Schwartz of 4214 Richton Ave. cele-
brated their 25th wedding anniversary last week.

Mr. and Mrs. Julius Gilbert of Arden Park have returned from
Charlevoix where they spent the summer.
Mrs. Gilbert Hart has returned to her home in South Bend
following a few days visit with her brother-in-law and sister, Mr.
and Mrs. Herbert M. Meyer of Chicago Blvd.
Capt. Benton I. Marks who has been stationed in Chicago
is spending a few weeks with his brother and sister-in-law, Mr.
and Mrs. J. J. Marks of Broadstreet Blvd.
Complimenting her daughter-in-law, Mrs. John L. Freud, a
recent bride, Mrs. Essie Freud was hostess at a tea last Saturday
afternoon.
Mrs. Joseph Burak of Longfellow Ave. is spending a short
time in Norfolk, Va., where she went - to visit her son, Ensign
Bill Loewenstein who is temporarily stationed there.
Mr. and Mrs. Royal Maas of Ohio Ave. and their two chil-
dren have returned from Charlevoix where they spent the summer.
Miss Barbara Alpern of Mt. Clemens left Sunday for Boston
where she will resume her studies at the Katherine Gibbs School.
Mrs. Jack Rothberg of Chicago Blvd. returned on Tuesday from
St. Louis where she visited her mother, Mrs. Louis Friedman.
Pvt. Stanley J. Friedman has returned to his post at Belvoir,
Va., after spending a nine day furlough with Mrs. Friedman. and
their small daughter, Joan, of Broadstreet Blvd. •
Mr. and Mrs. Alex Cohen of Calvert Ave. left on Sunday to
spend a fortnight with Mrs. Cohen's brother-in-law and sister,
Mr. and Mrs. Samuel Grosner of West Orange,
Lt. (s.g.) and Mrs. Walter Schmier are the fi.ouse guests of
Lt. t chmier's brother and sister-in-law, Mr. and Mrs. Herman
Schinier of Santa Barbara Ave.
Mrs. Alert Krohn of Cambridge Rd., is visiting her mother,
Mrs. Max Goldstein of Hamilton, Ont.
Cpl. Arnold Fox, U. S. Army Corps, left Wednesday evening
for his post at Barksdale Field, La., following. a 10-day furlough
with his parents, Mr. and Mrs. Harry Fox of Euclid Ave.
Mr. and Mrs. John Frazer of Leslie Ave. returned on Monday
from Buffalo where they went to attend the wedding of Mr.
Frazer's niece.
Lt. Norman D. Ash who is stationed at the Dover Army Air
Base, Delaware, is spending a short time with his parents, Mr.
and Mrs. Harry B. Ash of LaSalle Blvd.
Dr. and Mrs. Philip Broudo of Sturtevant Ave. have re-
turned from a week's visit in Chicago.
Mrs. David S. Hershman of Calvert Ave. left Wednesday for
Centerville ; Miss., to visit her husband who is stationed at Camp
;Van Dorn.
Miss Marjory Brown of Wildemere Ave. is expected home his
week-end from Chicago where she is visiting her aunt, Miss
Eleanor Scher.
Mr. and Mit. Arnold Godsol of Muirland Ave., left last Sat-
urday to spend a short time in New York City.
Miss Freda Goldsmith has returned to her home in New York
City following a visit with her father, Abraham Goldsmith of
Sturtevant Ave.
Miss Annette Share returned Sunday to her post with the
American Red Cross following a visit with her family in their
home on Buena Vista Ave.
Complimenting Beatrice Fisher Serwer, a recent bride, Mrs.
Leo M. Frank, Mrs. Edward Stein and Mrs. Samuel Serwer are
entertaining at ,a luncheon and miscellaneous shower at the
Book Cadillac Hotel this Saturday.
Mrs. Joseph Beisman of Atkinson Ave. returned on Monday
from St. Louis, Mo., where she spent the last 10 days as the
guest of Mr. and Mrs. Paul Beisman.
Miss Beatrice Barnett of West Euclid Ave. has returned from
a month's stay in Sault St. Marie.
On Saturday evening, on her 16th birthday, Miss Alice Vass
was hostess to a group of her friends for dinner and dancing at the
Statler Terrace Room, after which the party attended the perform-
ance of "The Voice of the Turtle."

Miss Finkelstein, a member of
Omega Sigma Phi Sorority, at-
tended Wayne University and is
now studying at Walsh Institute
of Accountancy.

To Meet on Oct. 8
Temple Israel Juniors will have
their opening business meeting
at 2:30 p. m. Sunday, Oct. 8,' at
the home of the president, Mar-
gery Kanter, 1971 Atkinson.
Plans for the coming year in-
clude an informal study of com-
parative religion through visits
to community houses of worship,
and increased participation in
congregational and community
service.
At the Oct. 8 meeting, Miss
Kanter will discuss the results
of the recent conference of the
National Federation of Temple
Youth, which she attended.
Shirley Weinberg, the Juniors'
new delegate to the League of
Detroit Jewish • Youth, will pre-
sent a tentative schedule of
League activities, including USO
work.
All young women of the com-
munity between 18 and 22 are in-
vited to join the Juniors. New
members are welcome to attend
the opening meeting.
The openlng meeting of the
year of the National Council of
Jewish Juniors, Detroit chapter,
at 3 p.m. Sunday, at the •ardell-
Sheraton Ballroom, will mark
the national organization's 25th
anniversary.
Philip Adler of the Detroit
News and Mrs. Joseph M. Welt,
national president of the Coun-
cil of Jewish Women, will be the
speakers. Sybil Ebner will give
the 'invocation. Doris Abramson
will present a musical program.
Plans for the Detroit conven-
tion of the juniors will be an-
nounced at- this meeting.

League of Jewish Youth
Plans Musical Revue

The League of Detroit Jewish
Youth is planning to produce a
musical revue in the near future.
Young people possessing talent
are invited to participate.
Director of the newly-formed
talent group is Sol Katzman. His
assistants are Martha Silverman,
Mary Slavkin and Phil Bernstein.
Auditions for the cast will be
held at the next meeting of the
League, on Thursday at 8 p.m.,
at the Jewish Community Center.
The League invites all inter-
ested young men and women to
attend.
