No Bankruptcy for Him
When Abraham Goldstein and
Patrick O'Brien completed their
course of instruction at the Los
Angeles Railway Company's em-
ploye's school, they were given
the run on Griffith avenue. This
was a short shuttle line, main-
tained principally for franchise
purposes, and the daily average
receipts did not exceed $1.00.
O'Brien was the motorman and
Goldstein the conductor.
After they had been on this
run for some time, the company's
cashier was amazed to notice
that Goldstein's receipts totalled_
more than $15 one day. He called
Goldstein to the office for an
explanation.
"Well," said Goldstein mod-
estly, "business got so dull on
our line' that I took a run down
Broadway."

Palestine, a retarded country
until 25 years ago, when the
Zionist movement began to de-
velop its resources, will serve as
a major source for the supply of
dehydrated foods to the starv-
ing populations of post-war Eu-
rope, it was reported by the
Labor Palestine Information Bu-
reau.
Plans in this direction have
been worked Out by an Anglo-
American Food Mission.
The Labor Palestine Informa-
tion Bureau also points out that
Palestine has been serving for
the past few years as an impor-
tant source of food anrreplace-
ment parts for the United Na-
tions forces in the Middle East.

. NEW YORK.—The Youth Ali-

through which more than 11,000

been settled in Palestine in the
past 11 •years, is regarded by
Miss Henrietta Szold, 83-year-old
founder of Hadassah and direc-
tor of the Youth Aliyah, "as a
great asset to Palestine, furnish-
ing in overwhelmingly large
numbers the manpower for all
new settlement projects through-
out the war years."
Miss Szold gave her appraisal
of the youth rescue and-settle-
ment project in a letter to Miss
Naomi Chertoff, national presi-
