CAMP KILNER, N. J.—Lt.
Harry Fogel, son of Mr. and Mrs.
Max Fogel, 2551 W. Euclid, was
promoted to the rank of Captain,
it was announced officially this
week. He is -31 years old.
He was inducted- into the Army
at Fort Sam Houston, Texas: in
March, 1942, and was sent to
Camp Haan, Calif., where he was
assigned to the 40th Infantry Di-
vision.
The unit was later transferred
to Fort Lewis, Wash., and when
Camp Kohler, Calif., was opened
Capt. Fogel was stationed there
as one of the cadremen to acti-
vate the post.
He was a staff sergeant when
accepted for the Transportation
Corps Officers Candidate School
at Mississippi State College and
was commissioned a second lieu-
tenant in March, 1943.
He was assigned to the New
York Port of Embarkation and
transferred to Camp Kilmer, one
of its installations.
His brother, Lt. Louis Fogel,
25, is now serving in the Euro-
pean Theater of. Operations in
the Coast Artillery Anti-Aircraft
Division.
