The Lublin. Outrage

It has now been definitely established that
more than one and a half million people, of
which two-thirds were Jews, were murdered
at the Majdanek_ death camp in Lublin.
And Majdanek was only • one of the many
brutal centers that were established by the
Germans for the extermination of innocent
peoples. • •
For many months, underground . sources
and Jewish organizations have been reveal,
ing - these • tragedies. But the democratic
peoples were skeptical and apparently re-
fused to believe the reports.
Now, ' correspondents who have come to
cities that were liberated • by the Russians
corroborate these facts, and civilized peoples
are aghast over the exposed brutalities.

When the Lublin- outrages were made
known last week, the Detroit Free Press, on
Aug...31, described the Nazi terror as "The
Crime Without a Name." The editorial under
this title stated:

Thus, even as we read the Unimpeachable
testimony, the mind cannot grasp it all.
Yet it is fact, not some monstrous night-
_ mare of fiction. If it were fiction, • its author
could only be a fugitive from a madhouse.
