18,000 Jews. Committed
Suicide in Death Camp
NEW YORK (JPS) — Rather
than undergo death at Nazi
hands, 18,000 Jews at the Maj-
danek death camp committed
-suicide, according to a report
received by the Jewish Labor
Committee here from Dr. Eman-
uel Szerer.
Jewish doctors, he reveals on
the basis of underground reports,
were submitted to the most hor-
rendous tortures because of their
refusal to assist the Nazis in their
"scientific" murder of the Jews.
Dr. Szerer's report, which cov-
ers a period up to May, reveals
that the resistance of the Jews
during the liquidation of the in-
ternees at the Lwow camp was
begun by women who hurled
themselves on the death squads
with knives. Thousands were
murdered; a few escaped.
The report contains serious
charges against the Jewish police
recruited by the Nazis for the
ghettos.

N. Y. Federation of
Labor Asks Repeal
Of the White Paper

SYRACUSE, N. Y.—Delegates
to the convention of the New
York State Federation of Labor,
representing 1,500,000 workers,
adopted unanimously a resolution
urging "our Government and the

bring about the immediate and
unequivocal repeal of the entire
White Paper policy, replacing it
with a new policy which shall

Jewish people and the magnifi-
cent contribution made by the
Jewish workers of Palestine to
the war effort of the United Na-
tions."
The resolution also pledged
support for the program of the
American Jewish Trade Union
Committee for Palestine which
was organized "for the purpose
of crystallizing the sentiment of
American labor in behalf of a
free and democratic Jewish Com-
monwealth in Palestine."

Refugees in Sweden Get
Education Opportunities
STOCKHOLM (JPS) - 7- While
most of the able-bodied refugees
in Sweden are gainfully employ-

given opportunities to continue
their studies, the minister for
social welfare, Gustav Moller,
said recently. Among the Dan-
ish refugees are many Jews ad-
mitted to Sweden when they
fled from Denmark on learning
of Nazi plans for their deportat-
