The Allied Security Conference in Washington will not only discuss the question of equal rights for Jews in postwar Europe, but will deal also with the future of Palestine. Ill fact. we have ground to believe that President Roosevelt will invite American Zionist leaders to the White HouSe for a talk on Palestine either before or during the sessions of the Conference. Gort, the new High Commission- er for Palestine, to Vatican City to discuss the question of a Jew- ish State in . Palestine with the Pope, who also has an interest in Palestine. Another indication is the very important information reaching me privately that a high Soviet official' took the in- itiative of inviting a leading Zionist personality and to convey to him Stalin's views with regard to Palestine. This was done after the Kremlin had learned all the details of the discussions on Pal- estine held between American ROME (JPS)—Ugo Fa() ; fas- cist party member and former president -of the Jewish Com- munity Counci of Rome, who associated with the Gestapo chief of the city even while hundreds of Rome -Jews were being loaded on trains for "unknown destina- tions," will be tried' on charges of having drawn up for t h e Nazis lists of Jews to be de- ported. Ugo Fao and several of his collaborators were arrested re- cently and released after three days. This does not mean that the charges have beerl dropped, your correspondent learns. Deny- ing that he drew up deportation lists, Fao will contend that what- ever transgressions he may be guilty of, were committed by him under compulsion. Creel, chairman of the Office of Public Information in World War I and now Collier's Washington correspondent, ap- pears in a new role: as prosecutor of the Nazi and fascist" murderers. He is the, compiler of indict- ments which are certain to be used as, evidence when the crimi- nals responsible for the present world tragedy are brought:, to trial. . - ln "War Criminals and Punish- ment;" - published by Robert M. McBride. & Co., 116 E. 16th St., New York - 3, Mr. Creel presents the case against all the bandits— Hitler, Mussolini, Himmier, Goer- ing, Goebbels, Tojo, and all their cohorts. He Spares No One The significance of this book lies in the fact that he does not omit facts, that he spares no one. Perhaps that is why he is. the first one to include among the war criminals the former Grand Mufti of Jerusalem. "That crafty, perjured old man" is the terms he uses in re- ferring to Hadj Amin al-Husseini. He exposes the former Grand Mufti as follows: "For 15 years this cunning Levantine gave all Palestine a blood bath, .murder- ing and pillaging with a ferocity that did not spare women and children, .yet until the -very. last he enjoyed the trust of those he butchered and betrayed." - Mr. Creel points out that the criminality of the Mufti was never in doubt. He describes his criminal acts against the Jews, tells of his having engineered the riots and murders in • Palestine and refeiiing to his arreiNn 1920 and his release he states: "And the man that he fooled was Sir Herbert Samtel, a JeW!" - Guest of Hitler The n Mufti's complete - record, leading up to his :treachery against the British in the present war, his escape to Lebanon, thence to Iraq and later to Ger- many where he is now enjoying . Hitler's hospitality, is incorpo- rated in Mr. Creel's indictment. Streicher, another Jew-baiter, comes in for a thorough scrutiny at the hands of Mr: Creel. "War Criminals' and - Punish- ment" is a great book and is a marvelous contribution to the ef- fort to prevent the kind of-traves- ty of justice which failed to bring the criminals of World War I to justice. This book should be widely read. - It should be in_ the hands of every statesman who may even remotely, have something to say about the prosecution of the criminals of the present war..
