Pvt. Edwin Lieberman, son of ,Mr. and Mrs. Samuel Lieberman of Birchcrest Dr., left on Aug. 16 for his post with the Marines at Camp Pierce, S. Just Phone— HO. 8446 Although Jewish civilian stu- dent enrollment is considerably smaller this year, Bnai Brith Hillel Foundations at some 130 colleges and universities through- out the country are determined to achieve their $50,000 quota in behalf of the United Jewish Ap- peal f o r Refugees, Overseas Needs and Palestine. Student campaigns conducted at eight Bnai Brith Hillel units raised $10,035 for the United Jewish Appeal and a number of other Jewish domestic and over- seas causes and war service agencies. The campaign totals were: Michigan, $2,100; Ohio State, $2,400; Pennsylvania State College, $1,509; Wisconsin, $1,017; Minnesota, $1,505; Brook- lyn, $291; Rutgers, $113; North Carolina, $1,100. A check for $100 contributed to the United Jewish Appeal by the women members of the jun- ior class at the University of Michigan as well as contributions from other non-Jewish students living in student cooperatives and from Jewish servicemen Sta- tioned at the university and at nearby Willow Run Air Base were included in the $2,100 raised by the Hillel Foundation at Ann Arbor. This year's total represents an increase of $500 over last year when the Jewish civilian enrollment was 800 as compared with650 this year.
