Cumberland Way have returned from a three-week stay in Charle-

Mr. and Mrs. Sidney Weisman and their daughter, Nancy, of
Suffolk, Dr. Mary Brown of Lucerne, Dr. and Betty Ziv of Wilde-
mere Ave. are spending 10 days in Beulah, Mich.
Dr. and Mrs. B. Benedict Glazer and their daughter, Stephanie,
of Chicago Blvd. 'have returned from a month's stay in Mackinac
Island.
Judge William Friedman of the Wilshire. Hotel is vacationing in
Charlevoix.
Miss Helen Bienenstock of New York City is visiting her uncle
and aunt, Mr. and Mrs. Clarence Enggass, of Cumberland Way.
Mr. and Mrs. Gerald J. May and ther son, Paul, of Wildemere
Ave. left Tuesday for a week in Toronto.
Mr. and Mrs. Victor'W. Klein and their son, Bobby, of Stratford
Rd. returned Thursday 'after a month in Charlevoix.
Mr. and Mrs. William Fleischman and their son, Mickey, of
Cambridge Rd. are leaving Saturday for Buffalo. Mr. Fleischman
and Mickey_ will return Monday morning and Mrs. Fleischman will
'go to New York ',city with her-- mother, Mrs. M. M. Goldrich, of
Cleveland who will join them in Buffalo.
Mr. and—Mrs. .1. Rodney- Myers and their daughter, Helen, of
Longfellow Ave. and their sister, Miss Sadie Hirschman of Glynn
Ct. are spending a fortnight in Frankfort.

Mit and Mrs. Sylvan Grosner and their daughter, Joan, of At-
kinson Ave. left this Friday for a fortnight in Atlantic City. Mrs.
Grosner's sister, Mrs. Irma Marx, has returned to her home in Los
Angeles following a visit here.
Mrs. Martin L. Butzel and her son, Albert, of Birmingham have
.returned from Charlevoix where they visited Mr. and Mrs. Leo
• Butzel.
The Misses Henrietta and Setta Robinson of Calvert - Ave. are
spending a few weeks in Mackinac Island.
Mr. and Mrs. Walter Kaplan have returned to Chicago following
a few days visit with Mrs. Kaplan's brother-in-law and sister, Mr.
and Mrs. Benjamin Shwayder, of Fairfield Ave.
Dr. and Mrs. Herbert I. Kallett and their daughter, Mary Judith,
of Muirland Ave. have returned from a few weeks stay in Harbor
Springs.
Dr. Benjamin D. Welling of the Belcrest Hotel returned Tuesday
-from a fishing trip in northern Michigan.
Mrs. Edward Katz and her daughters, Janet and Barbara, of
Burlingame Ave. are taking a cruise to Mackinac Island this week.
Mr. and Mrs. Harry A. Hyman of Bost*. Blvd. have recently
returned from Mackinac Island and are ,itikig their son, Pfc. Bert
H. Hyman, at Fort McClellan, Ala.
Mrs. Irving Golden and her two daughters of Boston 131yd. have
returned from Frankfort.
Mrs. Ralph Schiller and her sons, Buddy and Ralph, of Chicago
Blvd. have returned from Mackinac Island.

Ensign Stanford Clamage left Thursday following a short leave
with his parents, Mr. and Mrs. Burton Clamage of San Juan Dr.
Mrs. Jerome B. Morton of Roslyn Rd. has returned from a week
in Chicago.
Dr. and Mrs. Jack Agins of San Juan Dr. have returned from
a few weeks visit in New York and the New England states.
Mr. and Mrs. Milton M. Madden and their sons, Michael and
Richard) , of Broadstreet Ave. are spending a few weeks in Sleepy
Hollow.
Dr. and Mrs. Gerald Spero of Birchcrest Dr. left last Saturday to
spend a fortnight in Los Angeles.
Mr. and Mrs. John Frazer, their daughter, Freda, and their son.
David, of Leslie Ave., left Sunday for Charlevoix.
Miss Marilyn Sandorf, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Gerald Sandorf,
of Warrington Dr. will return this Saturday from Madison, Wis.,
where she was attending the summer session at the University of
Wisconsin.
Mrs. Caspar Cutler, her daughter, Marjory, and her son, Donald,
of Collingwood Ave. are spending a few weeks in Charlevoix.
Mr. and Mrs. M. B. Berkman of Parkside Ave. left for Bristol,
N. H. where they will visit their daughter, Gale, who is at Camp
Wi-cu-su-ta. They will spend a week in New York City before re-
turning home.
Mr. and Mrs. Leonard Oppenheim of Whitmore Rd. have re-
turned from a fortnight's stay in Charlevoix.
Maurice D. Brown, assistant attorney general of Arizona and a
former resident of Detroit, is visiting his many friends here and is
stopping at the Book Cadillac Hotel.
Miss Dolly Geselis and Miss Helen Mattes have left for a
month's visit with Capt. and Mrs. Max Mattes. Capt.. Mattes is at
Station Hospital, Camp Cooke, Calif.'
Mr. and Mrs. Louis Mann of Ohio Ave. have returned from a
three weeks stay at Ramona Beach Hotel, Harbor Springs, In
honor or her daughter, Susan's, eighth birthday, Mrs. Mann enter-
tained 14 children at a luncheon at Knollwood Country Club.
Mr. and Mrs. Bent Cohn and daughter, Sara Lee,' are leaving
this week for an extended trip to the West coast where they will
visit With their two sons, Donald and Sheldon, who are in the
USAAF services. They will remain in Los Angeles for a few months.

Ave. The wedding will take place

Miss Zelda Finkelstein, daugh-
ter of Mr. and Mrs. William Fin-
kelstein of Pingree Ave., became
the bride of Paul Naktin, son of
Mr. and Mrs. Max Rose of Chi-
cago, Ill., on Aug. 6, at the Wil-
shire Hotel, Rabbi A. XL Hersh-
man officiating. A reception for
150 guests followed the ceremony
and a dinner was given for the
immediate families.
The bride was attended by her
sister, Miss Lillian Finkelstein,
as maid of honor. Mrs. Sol
Emmer was bridesmaid. George
Haller was best man and Sol
Emmer was usher.
Center to Present
Concert Monday
The next outdoor concert at
the Jewish Community Center
ill be held Monday, at 8:45
p. m. Instrumental music will be
played by a trio composed of
Arthur Grossman, violin; Bern-
ard Argiewicz, cello; and Flor-
ence Kutzen, piano. Grossman
and Argiewicz arg members of
the Detroit Symphony orchestra.
Miss Kutzen, prominent Detroit
pianist; is associated with the
Bendetson Netzorg School of
Music.
• . Bella Goldberg, mezzo-soprano
who will be heard in a • group of
vocal selections, has appeared
with the Halevy Choral Society
and with the Temple Israel Choir.
She will be accompanied by Re-
becca Prohman.
The public is invited.
Berdichever Verein
Picnic This Sunday
Berdichever Verein announces
that the annual picnic will be
held Sunday at Lola Valley Park.
Members of Berdichever Vere-
in and their friends are invited

abundance of food. Proceeds will
be used for the soceity's charit-
able purposes.

Camp Habonim Closes
Season This Friday
Campers of Camp Habonim,
the Jewish Community Center's
Day camp, are ending their sea-
son Friday with a farewell party,
an outstanding feature of which
will be .a show performed by the
counselors for the campers.
On Tuesday, the campers pre-
sented, "Peter and the Wolf," by
Serge Prokofiev. Many parents
and children in the community
attended the performance.
The girls and boys were espe-
cially complimented on their fine
work done on the murals which
served as wall decorations in the
Center auditorium. Each bunk
chose their own topic and work-
ed on the murals collectively.
Some of the topics were: Chil-
dren of.Other Lands; From the
Factory to the Battlefield; Life
in Palestine and War and Peace.
Although the oficial , camping
season will be over, all campers
may attend the athletic and
swimming activities daily at the •
Center. • All girls and boys be-
tween the ages of 6 and 14 are
invited to become junior mem-
bers and enroll in the junior fun
program- for the fall.

"Blockade," "Listen to Britain"
On Center Film Program
"Blockade," a Walter Wanger
production, a drama of Republi-
can Spain's fight against native
and German-Italian fascism on
Spanish soil, with Henry Fonda
and Madeline Carroll, will be
the feature film to be presented
at the Jewish Community Center
next Tuesday, at 9:15 p. m. The
program is sponsored by Jewish
Youth Forum, with Betty Katz
as chairman.
An 0. W. I. film, "Listen to
Britain" will also be shown.

Mothers' Clubs' Hostesses
Day at USO on Monday
The third annual Hostesses
Day at the downtown USO, spon-
sored by the Council of Mothers'
Clubs of the Jewish Community
-Center, will take place next
Monday afternoon, at Lafayette
and Cass.
The hostesses in charge, Mes-
dames Ida Drapkin, Lucy Siegel,
Fanny Grober, Jennie Sweet,
Anna Wander, Bertha Wilson,
Anne Saxer, Shirley, Nachman,
will serve hundreds of Sand-
wiches.

proper atmosphere. A floor show
with Jewish Center talent will
provide songs, acts and novelty
numbers and a magician. Paul
Yampolsky and his enterprising
committee invite all intermedi-
ates and their friends to attend
this affair.

are hayrides, picnics and a lawn

Army," reported on his audience
with Pope Pius XII. "I heard so
many stories in Rome of the help
His Holiness had given to the
Jews," he said, "and I took this
