ACTIVITIES IN SOCIETY

Mrs. Leon Netzorg of the Belcrest Hotel is a guest at the Grand
Hotel, Mackinac Island.
Mr. and Mrs. Alexander B. Szirtes of Collingwood Ave. are
spending several weeks in New York City.
Guests at Lesser's Clover Lodge on Grand Traverse Bay,
Omena, Mich., during the past week, included Dr. and Mrs. J. B.
Kass, Dr. and Mrs. S. H. Blondy, Dr. and Mrs. Dave Friedman,
Dr. and Mrs. Rubinstein and their families.
After spending his two-week furlough with their parents,
Mr. and Mrs. S. Carver of Chicago Blvd., Sgt. and Mrs. Henry H.
Carver have returned to Sgt. Carver's post at Orlando, Fla. Also
here for a visit with the Carvers were Sgt. Carver's sister, Mrs.
Robert H. Kittner, and Mr. Kittner of Shaker Heights, 0., and
Mrs. F. B. Kittner.
Miss Gail Rose Hyman of Elmhurst Ave. is in Lexington visit-
ing her uncle and aunt, Mr. and Mrs. Emil Loewenberg, and her
uncle and aunt, Mr. and Mrs. Abraham Glazer. •
Mrs. Morris Gaylord of Buffalo is the house guest of her
brother-in-law and sister, Mr. and Mrs. Morris Baron of Tyler Ave.
The Misses Bernice and Lorraine Polasky of Atkinson Ave. left
last Sunday to spend a week at Macatawa, Mich.
Mr. and Mrs. Benjamin Goldman of Whitmore Rd. are vacation-
-- ing in Frankfort.
Dr. and Mrs. Noah E. Aronstam of Eason Ave. have returned
from New York City where they spent two months with their
daughter, . Mrs. Luis Perelman. Capt.' Perelman, who is stationed at
Camp Jackson, Miss., spent a few weeks' leave at home with his
wife and her parents. Dr. and Mrs. Aronstam also spent a fortnight
in Cleveland visiting with Mrs. Aronstam's brother-in--law and sis-
ter, Mr. and Mrs. Harry Jacobson.
Mr. and Mrs. Alfred W. Payson and their son, Anthony, of
Chicago Blvd. have returned from a fortnight's stay in Macatawa,
Mich.
_ Miss Edith Gallow, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. I. Gallow of
Calvert Ave., is attending the summer session at the University of
Chicago.
Mr. and Mrs. William B. Isenberg of Edison Ave. have returned
from Burleigh, Ont., where they spent the last few weeks fishing.
The Misses Anne, Helen and Lena Solomon of Atkinson Ave.
have returned from a 10-day visit in Croswell, Mich.
Mrs. Louis Tabashnik of Fairfield Ave. left last Monday for
St. Louis where she will spend a few weeks visiting with her family.
Complimenting her sister-in-law, Mrs. Moe Schwartz of St.
Louis, Mrs. Philip Arnold gave a dessert luncheon last Thursday in
her home on West Philadelphia Ave. Mrs. Schwartz is the house
guest of her cousin, Mrs. Morris Hachman of Glynn Ct.
Mrs. Joseph Teisner of Chicago is spending a few weeks visit-
ing with her family.

house, have moved here from New York City and are making
their home with Mrs. Greenhouse's son-in-law and daughter, Mr.

Mr. and Mrs. Maurice Moscow and their sons, David and Nor-
man, of Calvert Ave., have returned from a week's visit in Three
Rivers, Mich.
Mr. and Mrs. Joseph Glazer and their son, Louis, of Tyler Ave.,
left on Wednesday to spend a week at the Ravine Hotel, in Harrow,
Ont.
Mrs. Edward Krause and her son, Sheldon, of Calvert Ave., are
spending the summer in Frankfort.
Mrs. Dorothy Rattner of Calvert Ave. is spending 10 days in
New York City.
Mrs. Ben-Zion Gotlib of Columbus, Ga., is spending a few weeks

post at Camp Claybourne, La.

Mrs. Lawrnece Leebove of Elmhurst Ave., are spending a fortnight
in Frankfort.
Mrs. Marvin De Roven is spending a few weeks with her par-
ents, Mr. and Mrs. Arnor Rubach of Cortland Ave. Lt. De Roven
who spent the week-end with his wife and his parents, Mr. and
Mrs. Nathan DeRoven, also of Cortland Ave., has returned to his
post at Camp Ellis, Ill.
Herman Litvin left for South Haven to spend a week with Mrs.
Litvin and their daughters, Anita, Lillian and Evelyn, before the
family returns to their home in Woodingharn. Dr.
Dr. Azriel Weller and his wife, Dr. Antonia Weller of Webb
Ave., are spending a fortnight in Lake Placid, in the Adirondacks.

At a dinner party on July 11,
Mr. and Mrs. _Raymond Rosen-
berg . of Hazelwood Ave. an-
nounced the engagement of their
daughter, Hilda, to Lt. Meyer H.
Green, son of Mr. and Mrs. Louis
H. Green of Taylor Ave. Lt.
Green is stationed with the Den-
tal Corps at Camp Ellis, Illinois.

Marriages

RADER-ELLSTEIN—Lila Ell-
stein of Roselawn Ave., was mar-
ried to Pvt. Edward Rader, son
of Mr. and Mrs. Louis Rider of
Woodingham Dr., on Saturday,
July 15, at the Lee Plaza. Pvt.
and Mrs. Rader have left for
Camp Crowder, Mo., where the
bridegroom is stationed.

LINSKY-SAFFIN — Mr. and
Mrs. M. Saffin of San Diego,
Calif., announce the marriage of
their daughter, Reine, to Pvt.
Norman Linsky, son of Mr. and
Mrs. J. Linsky of Detroit. The
marriage was performed on July
16 by Rabbi Leon Fram, in his
study.

NEW YORK. — The American
Jewish Joint Distribution Corn-
mittee announced that eight of
the 10 social workers whom it
is supplying to the UNRRA for
its Balkan project are ready to
go overseas or to begin the spe-
cial UNRRA training program.
The JDC contingent is headed
.by Jacob L. Trobe, a child care
specialist. The group includes
Ethel Maslansky, nutrition; Mau-
rice Dubin, hospital supervision;
Rebecca Shakow and Philip Skor-
neck, public. welfare workers;
Morris Laub and Laura Stolzen-
berg, child welfare workers, and
Belle D. Mazur, experienced in
community organization and ref-
ugee services.
The JDC has announced a spe-
cial grant for the relief and
maintenance of 115 stateless Jews
who fled from Finland just be-
fore the Nazis took control there
several weeks ago. The stateless
Jews reached safety in Sweden.

75,000 Workers Needed
For Palestine Housing

JERUSALEM (JPS-Palcor)
There will be employment for
75,000 workers in Palestine's
building industry alone at the
end of the war when projects are
undertaken to provide the 127,-
000 dwelling rooms needed to re-
lieve the country's housing short-
age, it was declared here by Wil-
son Brown, government control-
ler for heavy industries, who
based his estimate on an official
survey.
