Mrs. S. Torfel, accompanied by her infant son, has left for
Portland, 0-re., to visit with her husband who is stationed there.
• — Harold Mesger of 8290 Carbondale is home on a 14-day fur-
lough from Camp Bowie, Texas.
In honor of the 45th wedding . anniversary of their parents,
Mr. and Mrs. Manus Levitt, a surprise anniversary dinner and re-
ception was given for 200 . relatives and friends at the Wilshire,
on June 25, by their children, Mr. and Mrs. Nathan Levitt, Mr.
and Mrs. Lew • Levitt, Mr and Mrs. David Levitt, Mr. and Mrs.
Moe Levitt, Mr, and Mrs. Kelly Levitt, Mr. and Mrs. Louis Kelman
and Pvt. and Mrs. Harold Marks. David J. Cohen was toastmaster
and Dave Diamond's orchestra provided the music. Out-of-town
relatives and other guests included Mrs. Sarah Clyman and Miss
Mollie Clyman of Chicago: Nathan Zepres, Mr. and Mrs. Edward
Rosen, Mrs. Moe Bruker, Miss Hilda Bruker, Miss Helen Freed-
man, Louis Rosen and Charles Schafer, all of Montreal; Mr. and
Mrs. Nathan Rosen of Cincinnati; Mr. and Mrs. David Levitt, Mr.
and Mrs. Moe Levitt, Audrey Mae and Ralph Levitt, Mrs. Oscar
Tavel and daughter, Lorraine, all of Bay City. M. Weiss of the
Keshenever-Bessaraber Society, of which the Levitts are charter
members. represented the association.
Mr. and Mfs. Reuben Allender of Warrington Drive announce
the graduation of their daughter, Gloria, from Adelphi College,
Garden City, Long Island, N. Y.
Mrs. Sidney Fishman of 2945 Webb Ave., accompanied by her
daughter, Ruth, and son, Melvin, left for New York and Reading,
Pa., to visit with her sisters. From there they will go for their
vacation in the N. Y. mountains.
Mrs. S. Becker of 3000 Tuxedo Ave. was hostess at a shower
and dinner for 50 guests • at Lachar's in honor of her niece, Miss
Sally Elperin, who left for Boise, Ida., to be married to Cpl. Max
Limsider of Brooklyn, N. Y., who is stationed there.
Sgt. and Mrs. Paul Komisaruk visited here last week with
their uncles and aunts, Mr. and Mrs. Leon Kay-Komisaruk and
Mr. and Mrs. Samuel Komisaruk. They returned to Sioux City, Ia.,
where Sgt. Komisaruk is stationed with the weather bureau.
Among those spending the summer at Camp Wabi-Kon, Tima-
gami, Ont., are David and Valerie Shlain, Leona Shlain, and
Joyce and Edith Vinstersvald.
Mr. and Mrs. Jack I. Goldstein of Tyler Ave. gave a dinner
in honor of •Mr. and Mrs. Tobias S. Eskow of Glendale Ave., who
celebrated their 20th wedding anniversary, Thursday, July 6.
Mr. and Mrs. Abe A. Schmier of Fairfield Ave. are spending
a few weeks in Charlevoix after having visited their daughters,
Celia, Carol and Marilynn, at Camp Plaifaire, on Walloon Lake.
Miss Margot Jane Abels, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Samuel E.
Abels, has left for Camp Interlochen, national music camp, for the
summer season.
In honor of the Bar Mitzvah of Seymour Gross, which was
observed on July 1, at Cong. Beth Abraham, his parents, Mr. and
Mrs. Harry Gross of 2982 Cortland Ave. were hosts to 150 guests
at Lachar's on July 2. Out-of-town guests included S/Sgt. and Mrs.
A. • Baker of California; Mrs: H. Ross and Mr. and Mrs. I. Waldorf
of Cleveland; Mr. and Mrs. L. Meliman, Mr. and Mrs. A. J. tvIell-
man, Mrs. J. Topolowsky and daughter, Faye, and Mrs. I. Green-

Before her departure on July •12 for a four-months' visit with
her daughter, Mrs. Bernard R. Berman, in Midland, Tex., Mrs.
N: Rothenberg of 2654 Elmhurst was extensively entertained by
her friends.
Mrs. Maurice Levy and daughter, Constance, who have been
making their home in Tucson, Ariz., for the past year, are visiting
relatives and friends in Detroit and are the guests of Mr. and
Mrs. J. Malamud of Sturtevant. Ave.
Mrs. Samuel Edelman, accompanied by her daughter; Sandra,
and son, Herbert, left for Waltham, Mass., to visit with her mother-
in-law and sister, Rabbi and Mrs. M. Bressler, and their son, Jona-
than.

Rabbi Leon Fram was a guest of the faculty of Central Michigan
College of Education, at Mt. Pleasant,. Mich., on Monday, conducting
classes and lecturing before the student convocation on "The Re-
ligious Roots of Democracy." ,
Mr. and Mrs. - S. Louis Levine of Sturtevant Ave. have as their
guests their children, Rabbi and Mrs. Isadore Fine and. infant daugh-
ter, Bernice Natalie, of Canton, 0.; and M. L. Fine of Cleveland,
father of Rabbi Fine. Rabbi and Mrs -. Fine attended the Rabbinical
Council convention in New York last week.
Sgt. and Mrs. Herbert. Josephson (Sylvia Schwartz) of Stockton,
Calif. are spending their honeymoon in Detroit with Sgt. Josephson's
parents of Ohio Ave.
Mrs. Julian Friedman of Ilene Ave. left on Monday to spend
a week as the guest of her sister in Waukegan, Ill. Her son, Don-
ald Friedman, Fireman 1/c, has returned to his post with the U. S.
Navy following a short leave spent with his family.
Sidney Moyer has returned to his home in Chicago following
a few days visit with his mother, Mrs. Karl Moyer and his sister,
Mrs. Leonard Radner of Woodlawn Ave. Mrs. Moyer and Mrs.
Radner and her small daughter accompanied him and will remain
in Chicago for a short time. Lt. Sheldon Moyer who was home on
a short leave retthmed to his post on Sunday.
Mrs. Max Kirschbaum and her daughters, Phyliss and Ruth,
of Fullerton Ave., Mrs. Joseph Mendolvitz of Fullerton Ave. and
Miss Renee Friedman of Ilene Ave. left last Friday to spend the
summer in California.
Benjamin D. Lieberman of Chicago Blvd. is spending a short
time in Greenbush, Mich.
Mr. and Mrs. Melvin Kuttnauer of Canterbury Rd. are spend-
ing some time in Frankfort.

funds supported by the group.:

National Fund activities. Mrs.
M. Nelson outlined the cultural
work of the club.
Mrs. D. Sislin, chairman of the
Child Rescue Fund, reported that
$3,500 has already been raised
towards the 1944 quota.

performed by Rabbi A. E. Hal-
perin, at his home in St. Louis,
Mo., with the parents of the
bride and bridegroom present.
After spending a few days in
St. Louis, the "newlyweds left for
Texas.
Woodward thru to Washington
Sgt. Kraft, a graduate of the
University of Michigan and the
United Hebrew Schools, is sta-
tioned in Camp Hood and is
assigned to Headquarters as Per-
sonnel Consultant. Mrs. Kraft is
now attending Mary Hardin Bay ,--
for College at Belton, Tex., hav-
ing completed her freshman year
at Olivet College prior to her
marriage. She is a granddaughter
of Rabbi J. Eisenman and the
late Mrs. Michle Eisenman.
Marriages
SACKS-SILVER: The mar-
riage of Miss Betty L. Silver of
Newark, N. J., and Harry W.
Sacks of New York City, took
place on Sunday afternoon, July
2. Dr. A. M. Hershman, the
bridegroom's cousin, performed
the ceremony, which was fol-
lowed by a dinner at the Stat-
ler. Mr. and Mrs. Sacks are
making their home in New York
City.
Tuesday's Film Program
"Prelude to War," a late OWI
film, will feature the Center
program on Tuesday. "Boogie-
Woogie Dream," a musical- short
with Lena Horne, will be the
companion feature. Film pro-
grams are held on Tuesdays in
the outdoor court at the Jewish
Community Center and begin at
9:15 p. m. The public is invited.
War Workers' Dances
Every Saturday evening, dur-
ing the months of July and
August, the War Workers of the
Jewish Community Center will
hold a dance from 9 p. m. until
1 a. m. in the outdoor court of
the Center. Refreshments will be
available.
