The Community C a l e n d a r,
which is maintained by the
Jewish Community Council, is
a valuable aid to all organiza-
tions in the city which are
anxious to have well-planned
and well-attended meeting s.
Groups are urged to make reg-
ular and frequent use of this
instrument.
In the Community Calendar
are listed the dates which have
been reserved by various or-
ganizations for their major af-
fairs throughout the year. Pro-
gram chairmen who make use
of the calendar are informed as
to whether the dates they have
selected have been reserved for-
some other group. If not, a
reservation is entered for their
organization, and other groups
are notified that it would be in-
advisable for them to plan a
competing affair.
All major affairs, as well as
regular meetings, such as mem-
bership rallies, anniversaries.
donor luncheons, dinners are
listed.
Announcements of a f f airs
which have been cleared with
the Community Calendar are
published in the Community
Council Voice which will re-
appear in the fall.
To clear and reserve a date on
the Calendar, call the Jewish
Community Council, CH. 1657
and ask fdr Miss Reva Reich-
man.
Conflicts and disappointments
can be avoided if all groups in
the community will use the
. Calendar regularly. It is urged
that organizations plan their
programs early.

in the forthcoming elettions, the
Jewish Community Council is
calling upon all its constituent
organizations to urge their mem-
bers to be sure to vote in the
July 11 Primaries.
Dr. B. Benedict Glazer and
Joseph Bernstein, co-chairmen
of the Community. Council's in-
ternal relations committee, are
writing to the presidents, secre-
taries, and delegates of the 208
member organizations of the
Council, stressing the vital im-
portance of this year's elections
in the history of our country
and the world at large.
They underscore the fact that
while the Community Council
does not advise anyone how to
vote, it urges that everyone
should vote. They also empha-
size the importance of voting in
the Primaries as well as in the
November elections.
Ellmann Hits
Vote Rumors
Council President Issues
Statement Repudiating
Untrue Reports
James- I. Ellmann, president
of the Jewish Community Coun-
cil, announced this week that
he is advising all constituent
organizations that they should
not believe rumors which ap-
parently have been circulated to
the effect that the Community
Council is opposing the election
of one of the candidates for
local public office.
Mr. Ellmann emphasized that'
if the Community Council de-
cided to take such a position, it
would notify its member or-
ganizations directly.
The text of Mr. Ellmann's
statement, which is being sent
to the presidents, secretaries and
delegates of constituent organi-
zations, follows:
"It has- been called to our at-
tention that rumors have been
spread to the effect that the
Jewish Community Council op-
poses the election of a certain
candidate for local office. We
wish to state unequivocally that
these rumors are not to be
believed.
"If the Community Council
took any such position it would
be communicated directly to the
Council's member organizations.
Anyone who wishes to, know the
position of the Jewish Com-
munity Council on any subject
is .always free to make inquiry
at the Community Council office.
"We have been distressed by
these rumors, and we urge you
to ignore them."
