Dr. Weizmann Says Jews
Must Help Create Own State

British Jewry Demands European Victims Be Saved
Now, Deplore Rescue Delay; Zionist Chief
Addresses Board of Deputies' Session

LONDON (JPS-Palcor)—Action now to save the surviv-
ing Jews of Europe, with special stress on the plight of the
Jews of Hungary lacing annihilation, was demanded_ by the
Boaed of Jewish Deputies, speaking for British Jewry at a
special session addressed for the first time by Dr. Chaim
Weizmann, president of the Jewish Agency and the World
Zionist Organization.

Dr. Weizmann stated that "the
salvation of the. Jewish people
must come from its own efforts,
but the Jews can only help
themselves if they are organized,
as other peoples are, in a state
enjoying the same rights and
privileges as others."
He stated his profound belief
that "such a state will and can
be created only in Palestine
whefe a beginning was made 25
years ago and the reasons which
prompted the beginning are even
more forcefully active now."
A Profound Change
Dr.
Weizmann concluded:
"With the disappearance of the
Jewish community of Europe, a
profound change has occurred in
the position of the Jews the
world over. The three chief Jew-
ish communities—in America, the
Eritish Empire and Palestine—
have been greatly weakened ma-
terially and morally through the
loss of the Jewish reservoir of
thought and literature."
The Board of Deputies has
opened consultations with the
World Jewish Congress, the
Anglo-Jewish Association a n d
other organizations with a view
toward formulating a working
agreement between them on the
presentation of a Jewish postwar
program to the United Nations.

British Labor Party
Wants Arabs Transferred
LONDON, (JTA)—The British
Labor Party is opposed 'to "di-
minution of the area of Jewish
development in Palestine" by
partitioning, Arthur Greenwood,
Labor Party leader, states in an
article in "Jewish Labor," the
organ of the POale Zion move-
ment. He suggested that some of
the Arabs be moved to Iraq.
Emphasizing that the Labor
Party has, since the last war,
realized that homelesSness was at
the root of the Jewish problem,
Greenwood reiterates the party's
1'1111 support for the re-establish-
ment of the Jewish people on a
status of full equality among the
nations of the world, and for, the
establishment in Palestine of a
Jewish Commonwealth.
