Detroit has 170 recreation centers. The Department of Parks and Recreation hopes to provide two staff persons, a man and a woman, for each. But with 200 children using playlots daily, and as many as 600 or 700 at larger playgrounds and recreation centers, much volun- teer assistance will be needed both in the daytime and evening hours.
