Denies Boasts
of 'Mothers' Head
Hardly Know Her, He Says
of Leader of Native
Fascist Group .
In a statement to the Inde-
pendent Jewish Press Service,
Mayor Edward J. Jeffries Jr.
of Detroit repudiated the boast
of Mrs. Blanche Winters, leader.
of a . native fascist "Mothers"
group here, that he frequently
sought her advice on municipal
matters. She reportedly made
that boast. to an "undercover re-
. porter" investigating native fas-
cist activities in the Detroit area
for the New York Post.
In his statement 'repudiating
Mrs. Winters, the Mayor said:
"It sounds as though the lady
had grossly exaggerated her im-
portance. I hardly know her,
and actually have not seen her
in many months."
Auto Workers Head
Attacks Ex-Klansman.
Revocation of the license of
H a r v e y Hanson, ex-Klansman
and leader of a new organization
called the United Sons of Amer-
ica, to operate a private employ-
ment agency, was demanded by
R. J. Thomas, UAW-CIO presi-
dent.
The union chief charged. that
Hanson is likely to use the
agency for strike-breaking activ-
ities.
The State Private Employment
Bureau this week revoked the
employment • agency license of
Harvey Hanson.
