Holiday Broadcasts
In observance of Shevuoth,
which commern•orates the
handing down of the Ten Com-
mandments on Mt. Sinai, NBC
presents a special program in co-
operation with the American
Jewish Committee Sunday (NBC
12-12:30 p. m., EWT).
The broadcast will be a half-
hour dramatization titled "The
Golden Calf," written by Kath-
arine and Adele Seymour. The
script tells the story of the retri-
bution which overtakes one Ger-
man who bowed before the false
gods of Hitler Germany and
learned too late that he had lost
his soul.
U.J.A. Broadcast
In celebration of Shevuoth, the
United Jewish Appeal for Refu-
gees, Overseas Needs and Pales-
tine will present a special holi-
day program during the "Mes-
sage of Israel" hour on Sunday
over the Blue Network from '10
to 10:30 a. m., on Sunday.
The speakers will be William
Rosenwald, national chairman of
the United Jewish Appeal and
honorary president of the Na-
: tional Refugee Service; and Ru-
dolf G. Sonneborn, who was re-
cently eledted chairman of the
National Council of the United
Palestine Appeal.
Traditional music will be fur-
nished by the choir of the Cen-
tral Synagogue in New York.

is published in the first issue
of the new quarterly "Rivaon
Katan," edited by Abraham
Regelson.
The Defense Shower is an an-
nual event given by the Women's
Division for Serv-a-camp, USO
and Defense Houses. The Con-
gress defense houses are run on
a non-sectarian basis, and over
50,000 men in the armed forces
of the allied nations have en-
joyed its hOspitality.
Mrs. Joseph Newman -is chair-
man of the shower, which is, to
be a dessert luncheon at Kern's
Auditorium on June 14.

Jr. Summer Program To Raise Funds
Planned at Center
The Jewish Community Cen-
ter is planning a junior summer
program designed primarily for
older juniors and young inter-
mediates. It will aid parents who
are employed and wish super-
vision of their , children for a
later period in the day.
The , program will operate
from 3 to 6 p. m., four days a
week, and will be supervised by
Rubin Young, a teacher in the
public school system. He will di-
rect swimming, outdoor activi-
ties and crafts for boys and girls.
This late afternoon junior pro-
gram is for Center members
only.
It is necessary that children
register with- Matilda Segal so
that complete plans may be or-
ganized.
