To Zionist Parley

Will Represent Zionist Coun-
cil in Washington on
May 23 and 24

Benjamin M. Laikin, William
London and Morris Lieberman
will represent Detroit at the na-
tional conference of Zionist lead-
ers, to gather from 300 commu-
nities in the United States at
Hotel Statler, Washington, D. C.,
on May 23 and 24.

The conference was called by
Dr. Abbe Hillel Silver and Dr.
Stephen S. Wise, co-chairman of
the American Zionist Emergency
Council, which speaks for all
the major Zionist bodies in the
land — Zionist Organization of
A m e r i c a, Hadassalt Mizrachi
and Poale Zion.
Zionist public relations are di-
rected for the Emergency Coun-
cial by the community contacts
division of which Rabbi Irving
Miller is chairman.
Mr. Laikin and Mr. Lieberman
will represent the Zionist Coun-
cil of Detroit which serves as
the local branch of the Ameri-
can Zionist Emergency Council.
The conference of local Emer-
gency Committee heads will for-
mulate plans to carry forward
the Council's program in t h e
ensuing months, and will hear
reports covering recent develop-
ments in the Concirs drive to
bring about the repeal of the
British White Paper policy and
the reconstitution of Palestine as
a free and democratic Jewish
Commonwealth.

Sends Packages to
Ft. Brady Soldiers

The food committee of the De-
troit Army and Navy Committee
of the Jewish Welfare Board an-
nounces that food packages were
sent to Fort Brady by Men's
Club of Temple Beth El. Food
packages were sent to Fort Cus-
ter by Hebrew 'Ladies' Aid, Per-
fection Lodge F. & A. M., Music
Study Club, Ruzhiner Progress-
ive Verein and Progressive La-
dies Unterstitztungs Verein.

Mrs. R. R. Kaltman, chairman,
and Mrs. Max Osnos, co-chair-
man, of the Mother and Daugh-
ter luncheon of the Temple Is-
rael Sisterhood, to be held Sat-
urday, May 13, at the Detroit
Leland Hotel, announce the fol-
lowing program:

will be the participants. Mrs. I.
Kohane, great-grandmother, will
give the opening prayer, which
will be completed by her great-
granddaughter, Elizabeth Fisher,
daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Roy
Fisher, Jr.
After the luncheon. Mrs. Max
Frank, daughter of Mrs. Kohane
and mother of Mrs. Fisher, will
speak for the women of her
generation. Mrs. Fisher ( Muriel
Frank) will respond to her
mother's theme, "The Challenge
to This Day."
Judy and Janice Lunsky,
three-year-old twin daughters of
Mr. and Mrs. Sol Lunsky, will
present the two Girl Scout
Troops of Temple Israel with
troop flags in memory of their
two grandmothers.
Miss Eleanor Mandell, who
recently won a place in the city-
wide audition conducted by the
Detroit Symphony Orchestra,

of Sociology of Western Reserve
University and Head of Social
Science Division, Cleveland Col-
lege will be guest speaker.
Prof. Busch, for many years
a student of political trends in
the Near East, Asia and the
Hawaiian Islands, will discuss
the Mandate for Palestine in its
relation to the Arab world.
