Mathis of 4042 Duane St. that his brother, Rob- ert Mathis, technician fifth grade with the Engineering Corps, was killed in action in Italy on Feb. 18. Mathis came to America from Lithuania in April, 1940, and en- tered active service in March, 1941. Among the first to land in North Africa, he was wounded slightly and soon thereafter re- turned to active duty. A brother, David, 36, is with the U. S. Army in England. * * * LT. MONTE KORN, of the U. S. Marine Corps, is convales- cing at the Great Lakes Naval Hospital, near Chicago, after serving as Acting Assistant Quartermaster in the South Pa- cific area for the past few months.
