Sources of Democratic_ Thought
and Practice," Dr. . Morgenstern
pointed out that the democratic
principles of Judaism, dissemi-
nated throughout the world by
Christianity, are mankind's ulti-
mate hope of freedom in a world
fighting against totalitarian
forces of paganisni. He stated
that "in this Judeo-Christian
principle of democracy is our
faith that the world will at last
find salvation." He added:-
"The Way of Life"
"Stemming from the democ-
racy of the nomadic desert clans,
where every man was the equal
of every other man and no man
had authority over another ex-
cept by common consent, the
democratic principles of Israel,
recurrently, fighting against to-.
talitarian influences, eventually
became, through the Prophets,
the way of life ordained for man
by God.
"The struggle is not yet finish-
ed. The issue is between two
ways of life — democracy, of
which Christianity and Judaism
are the champions, and totalitar-
ianism, which is the pagan way
of life.
