. At a board meeting of Infant's
-Service Group at ..the home of
Mrs. Harry Weingarden, Mrs.
Sam Bank reported that a break-
fast was furnished by the group
for boys in Camp Custer as one
of the many projects the group
haS undertaken for the duration.
.A majority of the members vol-
'unteered.to help in the Red Cross
drive, and the group has agreed
to double the contribution of
last year. Further plans were
made for the spring party. The
ticket chairmen are Mrs. Sam
Katz and Mrs. Abe Young.

Bride of Navy Lt. Joseph Stone

A musical program will fea-
ture the Purim party of the
Congregation Shaarey Zedek
Sisterhood to be held in the
social hall of the synagogue on
Monday at 12:30 p.m.

Purim delicacies will be served
at the dessert luncheon. T h e
program will consist of a group
of Jewish selections sung by
Mrs. William Greenwald, accom-
panied by Mrs. Jesse Rosen.

Mrs. Aaron Silberblatt, chair-
man of the program committee,
announces that there will be
piano selections by Mrs. Rosen
and renditions by Miss Marilyn
Gelb, popular young entertainer.

Mrs. Charles A. Smith, presi-
dent of the Sisterhood, states
that the Red Cross workrooms
of the organization are in need
of additional workers. Mrs. Ben-
jamin Gordon is in charge of
this activity, the hours of which
are from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. on
Mondays and Tuesdays.

Home Relief Society will have
a membership luncheonette for
paid-up members Monday, March
27, 1 P. M., at the home of Mrs.
Morris Rosenberg, 19271 Strath-
coma Drive. Mrs. Joseph Blum-
rosen will review "Journey in the
Dark." Dues are being accepted
by the financial secretary, Mrs. A.
Sinaberg, 2727 Calvert.

Women's Auxiliary of Jewish
Home for Aged held a combined
meeting of the board and an
orientation tea for new mem-
bers at the Home, on March 8.
Mrs. I. E. Goodman Was chair-
man. Guest speaker was Dr.
Preston Scott of Wayne Uni-
versity, who' was introduced by
Mrs. George Koven. On Thurs-
day afternoon, a Purim party
was tendered the aged residents
of the Home by the Women's
Auxiliary with Mrs. Jos. Rose
and Mrs. Herman Bergman, co-
chairmen of the Sunshine com-
mittee, in charge. Entertain-
ment was furnished by actors
from Littman's Theater and
Cantor Anton Rosenfeld of Con-
gregation Shaar Hashomayim,
Windsor.

Sisters of Zion Mizrachi will
hold a paid-up membership
luncheon at 1 p. m. Wednesday
at the Shaarey Zedek. William
Hordes, president of the Jewish
National Fund Council of De-
troit, will be guest speaker.
Miss Miriam Bernstein will give
recitations. Mrs. D. Moses is
chairman of the membership
drive with Mrs. Harry Finkel-
stein as co-chairman. For in-

hold its annual Purim cocktail
party for paid up members Mon-
day at 1 p.m. at the home of
Mrs. L. Rose, 3258 Glendale.
Rabbi Jacob J. Nathan will talk
on "Purim Through the Ages."
Purirn delicacies will be served.
Dues may be paid to the finan-
cial secretary, Mrs. J. Lipnick.

made contributions to the Foun-
dation for Infantile Paralysis, to
the Jewish National Fund for
the redemption of a dunam of
land in Palestine, $200 to the
Red Cross, double last year's
contribution. Mrs. Sydney Kalt,

Louis Fried were named to the
board of directors.

A prominent Detroit couple,
both serving in the U. S. ,Navy,
were united in marriage on
Friday afternoon, Feb. 25.
Dr. A. M. Hershman officiated
at the wedding ceremony of
Pharmacist Mate Sulamithe

ter of Mr. and Mrs. William A.
London of 980 Whitmore Road,
and' Lt. (j.g.) Joseph Stone, son
of Mr. and Mrs. Samuel V.
Stone of 2650 Webb Ave., at the
bride's parents' home.
Mrs. Stone, who has been in
active service since June • 1943,
is stationed at. Camp Endicot,
Rhode Island. She is specializ-
ing in X-Ray work. A gradu-
ate of the National Park Cal-
lege, Washington, D. C., she was
a student at the University of
Detroit at the time of her en-
listment. She is a graduate of
Central High School and the
Shaarey Zedek Schools, was

consecrated at Shaarey Zedek
and had studied for. two years
at the University of California.
Lt. (j.g.) Stone at present is
assigned at the U. S. Naval Ac-
ademy at Washington for ad-
vanced Radio applied communi-
cation work. He returned last
month to this country after 17
months of active duty aboard a
combat transport, having taken
part in the original landings of
American troops in Algiers and
North Africa.
An account of his military ac-
tivities appeared in The Jewish
News on Feb. 25. He is a grad-
uate • of . Central High School,
Wayne University, University of
Michigan Law School, and is a
member of the Michigan Bar.
He has been in active service
two and a half years, having
been stationed at Notre Dame
and Northwestern Universities
before going overseas.
