Jewish Appeal, and this group of refugee
newcomers to the U. S. is shown here being
welcomed by the National Refugee Service.
In areas occupied by the United Nations, the
American Jewish Joint Distribution Com-
mittee is helping large numbers of victims
of war and oppression who are given assist-
ance as speedily as conditions permit.
These are newly-arrived settlers in Palestine
who are helped by the United Palestine Ap-
peal to become self-supporting and to par-
ticipate in the great effort for the,establish.
ment of the Jewish National Homeland.
This is one of the new farmerettes who has
been settled in Palestine with the assistance
funds given by American Jewry.
With the assistance of the U. J. A., this refu-
gee girl has found a haven in Switzerland,
where she has found protection.
This newcomer to the U. S. expresses relief
on having escaped from Nazism in a smile
that denotes a taste of freedom.
