ACTIVITIES IN SOCIETY
Mr. and Mrs. Leo Butzel of Burns Dr. left last week for
Palm Beach, Fla., where they will spend the remainder of the
winter.
Mr. and Mrs. Henry Meyers of Lincolnshire Rd. have returned
from a week's stay in New York City.

committee on arrangements for
the annual Szold Ball sponsored
Mr. and Mrs. Clarence Enggass of Cumberland Way will
leave on Sunday for Palm Beach, Fla. .
Mrs. Fred Dreifus of Memphis, Tenn. spent 10 days with
her brother-in-law and sister, Mr. and Mrs. Clement Hopp of
Longfellow Ave., enroute to the east where she will visit with
her son, Jed, who is attending Choate School in Massachusetts.
Mr. and Mrs. Fred Ginsburg of Chicago Blvd., who have been
in Palm Beach for the last month, are spending a short time in
New York City before returning home on Monday. Their daughter,
Suzanne, joined them in New York on Thursday.
Dr. and Mrs. Nathan H. Schlafer of Wildemere Ave. were
hosts to a group of friends at dinner in their home last Sunday
evening.
Mrs. Joseph Hartman has returned from Chicago where she
spent a few days visiting with her son-in--law and daughter, Lt
(. g.) and Mts. Howard Sherman.
Miss Nancy Levin has returned to her studies at Cambridge
School, Kendall Green, Mass., . after a short vacation spent with
tier parents, Mr. and Mrs. Abraham J. Levin of Muirland Ave.
Lt. Noah Lewin-Epstein has returned to his post at the Con-
garee Army Air Base, S. C., after a short leave spent with his
grandmother, Mrs. E. H. Lewin-Epstein, and his uncle and aunt,
Dr. and Mrs. A. M. Hershman of Calvert Ave.
Mr. and Mrs. Julian Wolfner of Balmoral Rd. are spending
10 days in New York City where they will visit with their
daughter, Isabel, who is attending Finch School.
Pvt. John Redfield, who is stationed with the U. S. Army
Signal Corps, is spending a 10-day furlough with his grandfather,
Israel Cohen of Afton Rd.
Pvt. Albert Tessler is home on furlough from Camp Ellis, Illi-
nois, and is visiting his wife and son, Paul Martin.
John Ginn of West Boston Blvd. has left for Palm Beach,
Fla., to join Mrs. Ginn and their son, John Jr.
Jerry Shroder, who was recently graduated from Highland
Park High School, will leave on Sunday for Princeton, N. J.,
where he .will matriculate at Princeton University. He is the son
of Mr. and Mrs. Ralph Shroder of Bloomfield Hills.
Mr. and Mrs. John C. Hopp of Edison Ave. are spending a
. week in New York City.
Mr. and Mrs. Irving Rice have returned to their home in
New York City after spending the last week-end as the guests
of Mr. and Mrs. Sylvan S. Grosner of Atkinson Ave.
Pfc. John M. Hirschfield has returned to his post with the
U. S. Army Signal Corps in Macon, Ga.

Mr. and Mrs. Meyer Prussian of Muirland Ave. returned on
Monday from St. Petersburg, Fla., where they spent the last
few weeks.
Mr. and Mrs. Marcus Ginn and their daughter, Laine, of
Burchcrest Dr. have returned from a month's stay in Palm Beach,
Fla.
Mr. and Mrs. Ivor J. Kahn of Chicago Blvd. are planning to
leave on Tuesday for a few weeks' visit in Mexico.
Mrs. Maurice Benyas of the Briggs Hotel is visiting her
brother-in-law and sister, Mr. and Mrs. Stanley Glazer in Peoria,

Mrs. Alexander Mann of Sturtevant Ave. and Mrs. Samuel
!Hartman of Broadstreet Blvd. have returned from a few days'
visit in Chicago.
Cpl. Lewis Simon, who is stationed at Camp Gordon, Ga.,
is spending a 10-day furlough with his parents, Mr. and Mrs.
Harold Simon of LaSglle Blvd.
Mr. and Mrs. Louis Beck of Burlingame Ave. are vacationing
in Miami Beach, Fla.
Dr. and Mrs. Samuel Silver of Oakman Ct. have returned
from a few days' stay in Chicago.
Mrs. Louis Glazer of Kercheval Ave. is spending a month in
Tampa, Fla., visiting with her son and daughter-in-law, Major
and Mrs. Alfred M. Glazer.
Mr. and Mrs. Jerry Morton have moved from the Belcrest
Hotel and are now residing on Roslyn Rd.

Mr. and Mrs. Harry J. Grant,
of Oil City, Pa., recently an-
nounced the engagement of their
daughter, Betty Elaine, to Cpl.
Harold M. Helfman, son of Mr.
and Mrs. Benjamin Helfman of
3830 Fullerton Ave.
Miss Grant, a graduate of the
University of Michigan,'was ac-
tive on the campus in the Hillel
Foundation and the Inter-Faith
Council. She has a teacher's
certificate in elementary educa-
tion.
Cpl. Helfman was graduated
with high honors from Wayne
University and obtained his M.A.
degree at the University of Mich-
igan. He is a member of the
Scholastic Honor Society and has
the Phi Kappa Phi award. He
served as an assistant in the U.
of M. History Department while
preparing for his Ph. D. before
his induction. He is affiliated
with Perfection Lodge F. & A. M.
