GUEST EDITORIAL

The Noble Work of the Red Cross

By DR. B. BENEDICT GLAZER
Rabbi, Temple Beth El, Detroit

The current campaign of the American Red
Cross will unquestionably evoke a generous re-
sponse from the members of the Jewish coMmunity
of Detroit. The indispensable serv-
ices which the manifold agencies of
the Red Cross are rendering the
American soldier on the fighting
fronts and •at home, as well as to
his family, represent the healing
and saving aspects of a brutal and
bloody war.

*Q.

All of us, therefore, have a vital
stake in the program of this inter-
Dr. Glazer
national agency of mercy. When we
give to the Red Cross We are making an investment
in morale, the kind of morale which will assure an
early victory for the United Nations.

We have heard many accounts from Red Cross
workers of their magnificent activities in the field.
We are all familiar with the program of the Red
Cross in our own city. We should be thoroughly
convinced that we can do no less than to make a
maximum contribution for the perpetuation and ex-
tension of this great and noble work. Let us be
grateful that we are in a position to give. Let us
give in the traditional spirit of Judaism—generously
and wholeheartedly.
