Miss Ruth Welling, who was recently graduated from the Uni- , versity of Wisconsin, has returned from Madison, Wiss., and is re- siding with her father, Dr. Benjamin D. Welling, at the Belcrest Hotel. Dr. and Mrs. E. Lipkin and daughter, Eleanor, will spend, the week-end in Chicago where they will go to hear their son and brother, Seymour, in concert with Efrem Zimbalist. This concert will conclude a tour by the two musicians. Mrs. Harold J. Baskin and daughters, Iryce and Saundra, have returned from a visit in California. Mrs. Bernard Brown and her small daughter, Lynn, of the Highland Towers, will leave this Friday for New York City to join Lt. Brown who is stationed there. Mr. and Mrs. A. J. Copeland and their daughter, Paula, of Parkside Ave. are spending a few days in Chicago. Miss. Copeland's fiance, Lt. Sidney Rosenberg, accompanied them. Mr. and Mrs. M. D. The following are on the committee: Beatrice Bortman Women Hebraists Conduct Program The Hamishah Asar b'Shevat celebration of Kvutzah Ivrith, the Hebrew cultural group, last Saturday evening, at the Rose Sittig Cohen Building, w a s unique. The. entire program, in Hebrew, was sponsored by . the women Hebraists. The chairman, Mrs. Yonina Mathis, gave a digest of Yitz- chok Lamdon's famous poem "Masada". Mrs. Ruth Chanin read excerpts from the Pales- tinian sketch writer, Moshe Vil- konsky. Mrs. Solomon Kasdan delivered an interesting address on the meaning of Hamishah Asar. Miss MiriamGold spoke about that famous poetess, Elishevah, and her most noted poems. f. Elishevah, a Christian, studied the Hebrew language and be- came so enamored with Hebrew literature and Hebraic thoughts that she settled in Palestine and became a famous Hebrew poet. Palestinian songs were sung by Mrs. Faye Ackerman and Miss Drora Selesny.
