Congregation Bnai David,
Elmhurst and 14th Sts., an-
nounces that the dedication of a
new Honor Roll with the names
of the men and women of the
synagogue now in service will
take place at the Friday night
gathering on Feb. 25.
• This Honor Roll is being giv-
en by Mr. and Mrs. David Bader
in memory of their son, Sgt. Pe-
ter Bader.
Invitations have been extend-
ed to all servicemen in the city
to participate in this ceremony.
The dedication sermon will be
preached by Rabbi J. S. Sperka
who also will read the names on
the Honor Roll as prayers will
be offered for those listed.
Cantor Irving Ringel and his
choir will render an appropriate
musical program for the oeca-
sion. At the social hour follow-
ing there will be a reception
for parents of servicemen.

that there are more than 190
Jewish patients at Eloise.
As a first step following his ap-
pointment-, Rabbi Wohlgelernter
has called upon the Jewish Social
Service Bureau to co-operate
with him in co-ordinating serv-
ices for Jewish patients by De-
troit Jewish organizations.
A meeting of representatives of
the Social Service Bureau, to-
gether with spokesmen for the
Sisterhoods of Temple Beth El
\ and Temple Israel, Home Relief
Society, Zedakah Club, Junior
Bicur Cholem, House of Shelter
and its Women's Auxiliary will
be held at the JSSB office on
Tuesday morning. Other groups
will be asked to co-operate in
providing kosher food and ar-
ranging entertainments and serv-
ices for the Jewish patients.

Dr. Glazer Gives
Sermon on Status
of Negroes in U.S.

At the services at Temple
Beth El this Friday evening, Dr.
B. Benedict Glazer will deliver
the sermon on the subject: "The
Present Status and Future of the
American Negro—With Special
Reference to Roy Ottley's Mas-
terful Portrayal of Negro Life,
`New Life' 'A-Comin'."
The musical portion of the
program will be directed by
Julius Chajes and the Temple
Quartet, with Jason Tickton at
the organ.
A social hour, under the sup-
ervision of the Temple Sister-
hood, follows the services.

The Guest Speaker

Rabbi Drazin received his or-
dination with honors at the
Rabbi Isaac Elchanan Theologi-
cal Seminary. He has the B. S.
and M. A. degrees from Colum-
bia University and the Ph.D.
degree from Johns Hopkins Uni-
versity, where he earned Phi
Beta Kappa honors.
Dr. Drazin is the author of
"History of Jewish Education
from 515 B.C.E. to 220 C•E." For
the last 10 years he has served
as Rabbi of the Shaarey Tefilo
Congregation, one of the largest
Orthodox synagogues in Balti-

as the gift of Sarah Frankel,
Ethel Greenwald, Chaye Leven-
holtz and Benjamin Waxman, in
memory of their late sister,
Esther Menucha and her late
husband.
The ceremony will commence
at 2 p. m. in the Yeshivah build-
ing, Elmhurst and Linwood.
Rabbi Silver will be the guest
here on Sunday and Monday and
will direct students' examina-
tions Monday, 10 a. m. to 1 p. m.
Louis Rose, vice-president of
the Yeshivah, will preside at the
ceremony. Morris Fisher, treas-
urer, will open the program. Can-
tor Isidore Podetzky. of Cleve-
land will be on the program. -Re-
freshments -will be served.
Rabbi Moses Rothenberg will
preside during the religious por-
tion of ,the ceremony. The Scribe,
Mr. Gavrilowitz, will inscribe the
final words in the Torah.

Harold E. Segal of New York

On Monday, Feb. 28, the De-
partment of Michigan, Jewish
War Veterans ' of the United
States, will sponsor a patriotic
evening, presenting the Yeshi-
vah program through the stu-
dents of three major classes,
and an address by Rabbi Morris
C. Katz of Congregation Beth
Jacob- of Hamilton, Ont., who
serves as a part-time chaplain in
the Canadian Army.

Samuel Cooper of Charleston,
W. Va., as guest speaker.
Rabbi Cooper is an outstand-
ing leader in the Orthodox Rab-

executive committee of the Rab-
binical College of America a n d
president of the Ohio Zionist
Region. He has been in the
Charleston pulpit since his grad-
uation from the Rabbi Isaac

Class Examinations
In Hebrew Schools

Class examinations which
were started in several of the
branches of the United Hebrew
schools with the beginning of
this semester are continuing.
Last week examinations were
held in the Philadelphia-Byron
School in the classes of Abra-
ham Panush and Miss Rose
Pike; in the Rose Sittig Cohen
Branch in David Shakney's
class; and in the David W. Si-
mons Branch in the class of
Abraham Schachter.
Next Sunday morning, Feb.
20, at 11, an examination will be
held in Louis Panush's class in
the Philadelphia-Byron School,
and in Mrs. B. Lehrman's -class
at the David W. Simons Branch.
